Excellent Fight
In a tremendous battle, our academy's adult team secured a two-goal victory, winning 23-21 against Budaörs in the championship match at the sports hall tonight.
Following the dominant victory against Kozármisleny, a much tougher match awaited our adult team, who continued their championship battles with a home match against sixth-placed Budaörs this afternoon at five o'clock. The autumn clash between the two teams was won by the home team with a better finish, 28-26, and once again, they started better than our team, as the guests scored three out of the first four goals (1-3). Then Kohász began to 'wake up,' equalizing through Szalai and Paróczy, but couldn't take the lead yet, and by the end of the 11th minute, Budaörs was leading by two goals again (4-6). Fortunately, not for long, as our team played fantastically in the following seven minutes, scoring four goals in a row, leaving their opponent without a response (8-6). Although the guests ended their goal drought, Kohász maintained its minimal lead from then on, leading 14-12 at halftime.
Following the change of sides, the scoreboard showed a 15-12 home advantage after a few seconds, but the guests made excellent use of a powerplay, equalizing once again (15-15). The teams engaged in a tremendous battle, and although there were plenty of mistakes in both teams' gameplay, there was no shortage of fighting spirit. In the intense struggle, our team consistently took the lead, but Budaörs refused to fall behind, and even with just over ten minutes left before the end of the match, DKKA only had a one-goal lead (19-18).
Despite, it seemed possible to finally break the guests, as we took a 22-18 lead with three goals in two minutes, but reaching the 58th minute, the goal difference declined to one single goal again (22-21). Unfortunately, our team missed a crucial penalty shot, but on the other side, Oguntoye, who replaced the otherwise excellent goalkeeper Wéninger, also saved a penalty, and when Szalai scored half a minute before the end, the fate of the points was sealed (23-21). There was still one more defended Budaörs attack left at the end, followed by the home team's jubilation, as the fiercely fighting Kohász deservedly kept the two points at home with a 23-21 victory, rising to seventh place in the table. However, it is true that our academy players have played two more matches than their direct rivals.
