„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
So close!
For fifty minutes, our adult team had a realistic chance of securing points against Vác, but the hosts managed the final moments better.
Dunaújvárosi Kohász continued their NB I campaign at the home ground of Vác, currently positioned fifth in the championship. While the hosts were considered favorites for the match, our team entered the battle hoping for a tight, good encounter and aiming for points.
And they started excellently. With efficient, solid defense and goals from Szalai and Paróczy, we quickly took a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes, while Vác's supporters had to wait almost seven minutes for their first goal. The following gameplay brought intense competition, increasingly balanced play, with the hosts managing a 4-1 run to turn the score by the 11th minute. However, this didn't deter our players. Even in a man-down situation, Arany, Sallai, and Szalai found the net, reclaiming the lead (8-10). The closing minutes of the first half saw missed opportunities on both sides. Although Vác took the lead again, Trawczynska scored the final goal of the half, leading to an 11-11 tie at halftime.
After the break, Vác appeared slightly more accurate, leading to a 15-12 score by the 35th minute, prompting our coaching staff to call a timeout. The brief pause prevented further widening of the gap, but the hosts maintained their two to three-goal lead until midway through the half (20-17). At this point, our team rallied both defensively and offensively, equalizing by the 49th minute, once again offering a realistic chance of obtaining points (21-21). However, a minor dip in our gameplay followed, which Vác capitalized on with a 4-0 run. From there on, they maintained their lead, securing a 26-23 victory and solidifying their fifth position in the table, while our team remained in eighth place with two more games to play this season..
