„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Victorious first leg
Although being one goal down at halftime, with a confident performance in the second half Kohász won by seven goals against CSM Roman in the EHF Cup.
A difficult task awaited our team today afternoon as they hosted CSM Roman in the EHF Cup. This was the first international match of the season, as DKKA joined the competition just in the second round. According to the rumours, the opponent managed to strenghten their team well during the summer and although last year they have been eliminated against another Hungarian team, Alba Fehérvár KC, it would not have been wise to underrate the Romanian team. Of course both the management and the supporters wanted to see a nice win at home.
The first goal was scored by the away team, but Kazai equalized quickly. Our goalkeeper, Tomasevic whose knee did not recuver fully for this match showed two nice saves right after the start, which helped Micijevic and Szalai to put our team forward (3-1). The girls were decent both in attack and in defence and thanks to some great strikes from the left backs Kohász already was leading 10-5. But here something went wrong, we started committing mistakes, while the Romanians found their tactics that worked. They got closer with a period of 0-4 and for the halftime they took the lead as well (14-15).
Then again in the second half it seemed that the instructions of the coach, László György were spot on as after two quick goals Kohás was leading again, but this run did not last for long. Due to the lots of errors in our game the opponent could reorganize their play once again and in the 39th minute they already led by two goals (17-19). At this point the Kohász girls could strenghten their defending once again, Tomasevic saved some far strikes as well, while the Romanian team seemed to get more and more tired and the score has turned again (20-19).
It was a huge block for CSM Roman as they could not come up with nothing against the strong wall of DKKA players. with the goals of Kazai and Klujber the home team was leading by five goals. Before the final period László György took a time out just to explain the importance of the last 10 minutes. This seemed to help as the girls were playing the tactics well, they did not lean back and led by Camila Micijevic they gained a confident victory.
Of course the victory does not mean that the second leg of this clash will be just a piece of cake. We need to stay focused if we want to keep our seven goal advantage in Romania next week.
László György : - It is a pity that we committed such a high number of errors in the first half, it was a clear 12 minutes long blackout. I am sorry to see that we cannot concentrate on our game clearly for 60 minutes. Luckily we did not give up. If the girls have faith in themseves then they do have the will as well.
Stefan Constantin: - Dunaújváros is a great team, this was visible today. We played well in the first half, but the second one was theirs.
