„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
According to the odds
Our team was beaten with seven goals 30-23 by the league leader, Ferencváros today.
After a long break without any league matches we travelled to the capital to be hosted by FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria. We were not the favourites on this game, but to be honest none of the Hungarian teams can certainly hope for stealing any points from the Champions League participant green-whites. We hoped for a decent performance, but it was clearly visible that the hosts take this game right after Christmas seriously. László György needed to call for a timeout right after five minutes, as 3-1 was on the scoreboard.
The little break did not seem to help, but finally at 6-2 a three goal run from DKKA thanks to Szalai, Micijevic and Kovács helped to shake the visitors up (6-5). Then again the minutes of the green-whites arrived who could use their speed well in attack and gained a gap of four again. A two minute warning to Anita Cifra and a pair of goals for empty net destroyed the remaining confidence of the visitors. In the last minutes of the half Klujber was in charge for the goals of DKKA and although she scored 4, still FTC could walk to the dressing room with a five goal lead (16-11).
After the teams switched sides Dunaújváros started the second part of the game better. Szekerczés and Monori reduced the score difference between the teams. There were some chances to be just three goals down, but the girls failed to take their chances. The missed chances avenged themselves so in the 42th minute László György needed to take his second timeout (22-16). The little break helped as thanks to Szekerczés and Monori DKKA came yet again closer to the opponent (24-20).
At this stage of the game something broke; between the 50th and 56th minute our team suffered a devastating 6-0 period and the home supporters first counted to nine (well, not everyone is good at math, right?!...), but then right after they had the chance to correct their mistakes as the difference grew to ten goals. In the last minutes our team could restore the order for one final time, but the end it changed nothing; Ferencváros won 30-23 and remained on the top of the league, while DKKA is currently in the seventh position.
