The eighth one in a row

2018. Mar. 10.
  • Facebook

Adult team of our Academy gained another comfortable 10-goal victory against MTK Budapest.

We were preparing to get the eighth win in a row in the Hungarian K&H League. Our current visitor, MTK were in the 11th position before the match, but despite the low league position, they indeed have brilliant shooters in the middle of the court. In the autumn match of the two teams this season DKKA lost a point against the opponent. László György's team wanted to be on the safe side this time and event though our key-player Camila Micijevic got an injury on Thursday, only the two points could have been the right aim.

It was a slow start for both teams, as each side organised the defending well, it was not easy to find clear opportunities in front of the goal. The opponent managed to get the lead throughout the first 10 minutes of the game. László György called his first timeout very early in the game as he expected a much dynamic start from his players (3-3). After the break Anna Kovács managed to score a few times and Kohász got the lead, but the opponent did not seem to stay behind and they could equalize all the time (6-6).

Despite her injury the physicians and masseurs could prepare Camila Micijevic for the match. And she thanked the help. Her second goal in the match meant that Kohász was leading by two for the first time in the match. The defece stood still and Tomasevic at the goal managed to do some fine saves too. In the last minute of the half the difference grew to four between the teams, but in the very last second MTK could score one more goal from the side. 12-9 was the halftime score.

After switching the sides the team of Budapest continued to keep up with the home team and they did not seem to give it up while being 4 goals down. Whenever our girls committed an error in play, they hit the net so in the 35th minute MTK were a nuisance again (16-14). The girls could shape up in attack one again and Micijevic seemed unstoppable this time, this meant that the difference started to grow again for the favour of DKKA. The opponent's coach invited his players to the side but this time the score was already 20-15.

During the two-minute suspension of Anita Cifra MTK wanted to grab their final chance to get something out of this match but thanks to the important goals of Luca Szekerczés and the saves of Viktória Oguntoye decided the outcome of the match. After a home lead of 21-17 Kohász hit the net five times in a row. The opponent team fought this time as well, but the home subs entered the game brilliantly and increased their lead. With the final score of 30-20 they strenghtened their 4th position in the league table.

László György: - We wanted to give our best on the court today. With an excellent defending and nice saves we kept both points home. It was a key to neutralize the opponents' quality shooters and I am extremely happy about Camila Micijevic who despite her ankle injury helped our team with a flawless performance.

Vlagyimir Golovin: - Congrats to Kohász for the victory. I think we were in level with the home team in the first half, but we are not in a good shape recently and that's what I saw on my team in the second part of the game. Our defence was not so well, they did not knock with the opponent's players and we got a little tired as well.
