„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
An uneasy victory
A match rich in twists, but our girls got both points at the end.
We were hosted by the team of Debrecen who were 8th on the league table before today's match in the 21st round of K&H League. The red&whites of Debrecen this season could not repeat their great run like in the previous years, but lots of injuries caused a setback for them. Our aim could not be else to get a victory.
There could have been no complaint, the girls gained the lead by the strike of Micijevic and although "Loki" could equalize twice, between the 4th and 10th minute we scored 4 goals in a row (2-6). The home team could improve in attack, but this time we could immediately come up with an answer. Then Viktória Nick needed to sit out for two minutes after a fault, which visibly confused us. The locals punished our mistakes and quickly scored three. In the 17th minute László György called a timeout (7-8). Further suspensions hindered our team, but our defense seemed to work. Dombi and Klujber helped to get away by three goals again, but the last period of the half was not so successful, which only meant a one goal lead for the halftime (11-12).
Like last week for the second part of the game we would have needed to improve in attack in the first place. Even so, the home team started the half better and for the first time on the game they got the lead. Micijevic did not seem to give it up, quickly hit the net two times, but then again came some errors in attack, that was revenged by the girls of Debrecen (16-15). Even bigger problem it was, that our defense that worked so far was not so sharp like a few minutes earlier. The second timeout from DKKA meant to fix this temporary state. Babett Szalai and Anna Kovács helped to get ahead of the opponent again, while our Croatian ace, Camila Micijevic increased our lead (18-20).
We felt this could be a turning point on the match, but the hosts knew it as well and they did not do us the favour to let us having calm final minutes. In contrary they levelled the game once again and also got the lead (21-20). Luckily for the final minutes Debrecen got tired as well and this time we could penalize their errors, we also came up with a 3-0 run. Perfect timing! (21-23). There was one more chance for the home team, but a mighty strike from Micijevic decided the fate of the two points once and for all. It was not an easy one, but the two points mean that we strengthened our 4th position in the league.
László György: - An uneasy match with lots of twist it was but we kind of expected it. We are happy that we got the upper hand. There was no problem with how we started the game, but in attack we were keen to make wrong decisions. With the gained balls the opponent scored easy goals and they managed to get closer and closer. Debrecen wanted to win today badly the second half was diversified, but luckily we improved our game in the best time, this meant two points for us.
