„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
An important win
We kept the lead that was gained during the first half and won the game in Békéscsaba.
We travelled to the South-Eastern part of the country. Our coach György László did not expect an easy game, as for example last season in the cup Békéscsaba could beat our first team at home. We badly needed a win as DKKA started the season with two defeats and during the upcoming weeks we'll host the two top teams of the league, Ferencváros and Győr, then we need to travel to Kisvárda. Klujber Katrin suffered an injury at the beginning of the week, so this time we could not count with our young talent, but Katarina Tomasevic, who missed the beginning of the season was ready to play again.
The hosts operated with an extremely tough defense, so it took four minutes until Ferenczy got the first goal for DKKA. There were some missed chances at both side, but after another 4 minutes Kazai gained the lead. We got the antidote against the defensive lineup of Békéscsaba, Ferenczy and Szekerczés scored, which resulted a home timeout in the 10th minute (2-4). The opponent used their advantage and with two tm throws they got closer to us, but then Csapó showed some skills in the goal, while Szalai, Grosch and Sirián managed to find the net on the other side (4-8). In the 19th minute György László called a timeout to organize his team. It had a great effect on the girls, they got a 6 goal lead for the first time in the match (6-12). This we could keep until halftime, although Vukajlovic caused some hard times for us, we always had an answer. (11-17).
We started well in the second time period and with two quick goals by Szekerczés and Szalai we increased the difference between the teams. But then the opponent found something and they came up with a 4-0 run, while we were a man down. Our captain, Szalai Babett scored at a very important stage, and after another goal from her the supporters could relax a bit again (16-22). The coach of the opponent, Horváth Roland called a timeout in the 47th minute, but the hosts could not really come so much closer. The last ten minutes started with a five-goal-Kohász-lead (20-25). The home side did the best they could do, but our defense worked well, and if they found a gap, Tomasevic was there to save the goal. In the 55th minute when Dombi Luca scored from the pivot position, it was clear that Kohász won the game (20-28). In the last stage of the game Békéscsaba could get a little closer, but our girls brought home both of the points. Well done!
György László: - Although we did not have a great start, we gained control over the match at very early in the game. The girls played organized and tough in defending and on the other side of the court we built up our attacks efficiently. I think today we played as a team, and we did well. It was very important for us to get this job done.
