„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
The defense can be praised
Our team conceded just 21 goals against the blue-whites of Budapest.
The K&H League continued for our first team with a home game against MTK. It was an important one, as we were looking forward to getting our first home victory of the season.
MTK scored first, but in the second minute already the home side was leading. For the second and the third goal of ours the opponent had an answer, but after this DKKA managed to get the control over the game. Unfortunately Szalai Babett suffered an injury early on so we needed to continue without our captain. The defense was tough, we wanted to stop the shooters of MTK before they released the ball, although in attack we committed some mistakes as well, yet we could come up with a 4-0 run, so Golovin Vlagyimir needed to call a timeout. The pause helped the visitors to get more organized, they came back to -2 goals and had the chance to minimize the difference between the teams, but the good defending and the saves from Tomasevic helped us. Nick and Kazai scored important goals and we kept our two-goal led (9-7). It was time for a quick discussion with the coach. It was helpful for the hosts as well as they produced a very nice closing period in the first half; Grosch, Ferenczy and Szekerczés scored that resulted a six-goal lead at the break (16-10).
In the second half Kohász increased the lead and although the opponent did everything to get closer to us, they had just a few moments. MTK reduced the goal difference to 5 goals but that was the closest they could get. But Dombi's first and Szekerczés' eighth score kind of decided the fate of the two points (22-15). Both teams missed quite a few good chances, György László called his second timeout in the 48th minute. In the last ten minutes MTK seemed to get tired, they had a few unprepared opportunities. DKKA led by Szekerczés Luca could not just keep, but increase the lead. With the final score of 28-21 they got both points and switched place with MTK on the league table.
György László: - The win was the most important today, and we managed to get it. We are happy now. I think our defending was key today and this had an impact on the game today. The victory is even more valuable considering that during most of the match we could not count on Szalai Babett, who got a knee injury. It does not seem bad, but we did not want to take a risk .
