A faboulus win means that Kohász is in the next round

After a disappointing result in the EHF Cup from our team another midweek task awaited our team. From six a clock they had to face Siófok KC in the Hungarian Cup. The odds were on the favour of the visitors, as they have excellent international players, we know that just a flawless performance could give us a chance.

There could be no complaints about the start, the Kohász players courageously battled with the opponent Klujber scored first and then another two times she got the lead for us, but Siófok could equalize right after. Ferenczy and Szalai helped out our young talent and for the 8th minute Kohász gained an advantage of two goals (5-3). Kobetic was in charge at the visitors to keep up with the home team, she managed to score from strikes and from a penalty as well. Siófok equalized once again thanks to the fact that DKKA could not use their advantage when Siófok were down to five court players (7-7). In the 18th minute Andrea Kobetic remained in the highlight, as for a hit she got an immediate red card from the referees. This advantage confused once again the home team, Böhme got the lead for the away team. (8-9). Klujber again hit the net but for the last ten minutes we visibly slowed down in attack, of course the two suspension from Kazai and Klujber did not help our mission either. A goal from Aoustin meant a two goal lead for Siófok, luckily Sirián scored her first before the end of the first half, and so just one goal divided the teams at halfway through (11-12).

Siófok KC got away by two goals once again in the beginning of the second half, and our girls tried to get closer to the opponent while Ferenczy had a suspension. And they did it indeed as Siófok committed several mistakes. Szekerczés could equalize in the 36th minute (14-14). Tomasevic made it harder for the visitors with great saves, and on the other side Grosch and Szekerczés used their chances. 10 minutes into the second half the opponent's coach needed to call a timeout when they were two goals behind (18-16). The girls form the Lake Balaton kept making mistakes in attack and these were exploited well by the team of DKKA, thanks to the goals of Szekerczés, Grosch and Kazai they got away from their opponent (21-16). A little miracle was about to happen but we knew that in women's handball tides could turn very quickly, especially when the opponent has world class internationals in the squad and there was plenty of time left. Siófok break their goalless period in the 45th minute and the players were ready for the final part of the game (23-20).

Klujber and Szalai helped once again with their nice strikes, they did not want to let Siófok closer. Five minutes before the final whistle Kohász was still leading by five goals (25-20). Nze Minko from the visitors was determined to lead her team at this stage. Three minutes before the end György László invited his players to the sideline to raise the awareness towards how important is to stay calm. Sirián won an important penalty and Klujber scored her 7th goal while the home supporters were superstitiously looking away (26-21). When Nze Mink missed her chance the team could finally realize that they will not lose this one. Aoustin scored for Siófok, but it did not matter, Kohász fought as a team an realized a smaller miracle in the Arena. Unfortunately Klujber Katrin's ankle injury in the last minutes overshadowed this victory, our top scorer was taken off the court by our masseur, Bába Mihály while holding her in his lap.

György László: - We fought bravely, we could avoid making mistakes and used our chances well. We should not however be carried away, we were DKKA both at the weekend's EHF match as well as this time as well. The truth about our real strength is in-between somewhere. But big-big congrats to the Girls, their hard work is visible when they take a look at the scoreboard.
