„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Unity was the key
Thanks to a flawless first half our girls got a nice victory at home against Vác tonight.
The run continued for the first team of DKKA with a home game against GVM Europe-Vác today. It was not easy to prepare for the clash as lots of injuries and some illness did not make it easy for our team, although at the end Szalai Babett, Szekerczés Luca and Sirián Szederke indicated that they want to play, we could not know for sure how long they can hold out.
Unfortunately Szalai Babett joined the game for the first 4 minutes, after she managed to score the first goal for our team, she asked for a substitution then she could not return to the court. Vác was leading by two goals and they kept this difference until the 10th minute, but then our defending started to become tougher (6-7). Csapó Kyra in front of the goal had no chance to catch any of the strikes and György László asked Vártok Ramóna to replace her. The tougher defense worked, after receiving the ball we managed to counter several times and we took the lead. The opponent's coach, Szilágyi Zoltán needed to call a timeout while 12-9 stayed on the scoreboard. This did not help much; Kazai's, Bouti's and Ferenczy's ball managed to find the way into Arenhart's net (14-10). Our coach invited his players in the 19th minute to the sideline and whatever he said, it worked, Kohász managed to score one after the other. Vártok shoved some important saves, Ferenczy and Kazai had some moments in attack. In the 25th minute Dunaújváros had already an eight-goal-lead. The last few minutes did not work out well for the home team, yet DKKA was lead by 21-14 at the halftime.
It was typical in the latest matches that after a decent first half a setback occurred, mostly because the lack of depth in the squad. And as "expected" Vác was all-in, they started the second half in a different mentality. After 22-14 they had a 3-0 run, so György László needed to call a timeout in the 35th minute already (22-17). Our team continuously got suspensions after each movement in defending, so five minutes later only 4 goals divided the teams (24-20). In the meanwhile a visibly rightful goal of Mihály Petra was not given by the referees to Kohász. Our lead declined further, so nobody could be sure about the outcome (27-25). Luckily the line of decisions against our team did not break the girls. Szekerczés scored an important goal from 7 meters, Csapó, who has returned to the goal saved a brilliant one. Vác called a timeout, but along came Ferenczy and increased our lead (30-25). Still a tough final ten minutes were ahead of us. The opponent tried everything, but Kohász always had somebody that put the team forward. In the final minutes the difference between the teams even grew, so DKKA gained an important victory with a final score of 35-29. It was a special win, a big congrats to the girls as despite the hindrances they played as a team throughout the game and could return to the dressing room in the midst of a frenetic and well-deserved applause.
György László: - We are extremely happy with the two points. It was an exciting match, the girls fought well till the end. Of course there are ups and downs during the game, but there was always somebody who we could count on. I think we deserved to win it today.
