„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Excellent home victory
With a focused play our team gained an important win against Kisvárda KC.
The opponent was seventh on the league table before the game tonight, a tough team with good international players in their squad. Excellent news for the Kohász supporters that Camila Micijevic was included for the first time in the rooster this year after her serious injury that she suffered last summer. We really missed her!
She did an impressive debut as she finished the first attack with a goal, it was followed by other two successful strikes. Kisvárda got back into the game by scoring two in a row, but along came another 3-0 run by DKKA, so 6-2 stayed on the scoreboard after 10 minutes. Our defending worked well this time and when beside Micijevic, Szekerczés and Szalai Ferenczy could hit the net, the opponent needed to call a timeout. (10-5).
After the short break Kisvárda could get closer to us, but Ferenczy and Szalai were unstoppable this tonight so for the 24th minute we gained back our five-goal-lead (15-10). During the last minutes of the half we crossed our fingers for Micijevic, as the Croatian player remained on the floor with a painful look on her face after a serious fault coming from one of the away players, when she tried to get back on her feet, she lost consciousness. She received immediate medical treatment and the opponent players helped her as well to leave the court. She later managed to sit back to the bench, but the game finished early for her. Luckily the home players did not lose their concentration and got a comfortable lead for the halftime (19-13).
It was important to stay focused for the second half of the game as well. Although the first goal came from the visitors, Szekerczés, Kazai and Ferenczy turned the tides (22-16). The opponent tried everything but then Csapó had some important saves, which resulted some easy goals on the other side, Kohász was up with eight (25-17). The match continued, and Kisvárda managed to decrease the goal difference, but it did not seem even for a minute that they could turn the game (29-23). In the 52th minute György László called his second timeout to raise the awareness towards the final few minutes. Szekerczés scored her ninth goal, Kazai found the net for the third time and that decided the game (31-24). Unfortunately the crowd could not see any home goals in the last four minutes, but that was only enough for Kisvárda to come closer. DKKA gained a nice an important win with the final score of 31-28.
György László: - We are really happy for our win, worked a lot during the week. I think we deserved today's victory. We started the game with a good mentality, our massive defending joined with a creative attack. That was our aim to get a flying start. We kept our lead well, and although the last minutes were dominated by Kisvárda, we got the two points and this is what really matters.
