A late FTC win

2019. Sep. 13.
  • Facebook

For fifity minutes the supporters could see two even  teams on the court, then last year's silver medalist managed to get the upper hand.

A difficult task awaited our adult team in the capital as they were hosted by Ferencváros. Besides our long-term injured Micijevic our team also lost Triscsuk and Ferenczy for the current game.

Yet we had a confident start, thanks to Szekerczés and Bouti they got the lead, and also were ahead after 11 minutes (3-4). Although FTC turned the score, they could not get away. A double suspension forced György László to call a timeout (10-8) that was thanked by our captain, Szalai Babett who brought DKKA closer. In the final minutes the outlook of the match did not change, FTC kept a one-goal-lead for halftime (13-12).

The question was how long DKKA can keep up the pace with such a short bench. The girls were on fire, Molnár and Nick quickly equalized (14-14). Then FTC had a good run. It seemed it will be a turning point at the game, but a nice move from Szekerczés, a saved penalty from Csapó and Grosch's goal brought DKKA close once again (18-17). Young side back, Jovovity managed to level the score and in the 48th minute DKKA attacked for the lead. Unfortunately the next goal was scored by the home team. Although György László called a timeout, and this was a turning point.

Continuous mistakes, wrong substitution, another double suspension resulted a 5-0 run by the home team (25-20) and it was a point of no return. Our team fought well once again, but FTC increased their lead and won the last 10 minutes to 10-3.
