Partial curfew for 2 weeks’ time in Hungary
The Hungarian Government ordered a partial curfew
The Government of Hungary published a Decree on Partial Curfew being in force for the period between 28th March 2020 – 11th April 2020 in the territory of Hungary.
Here follows the summary of the new regulations:
Everyone, except those living in the same household, shall keep the social contact with other people to a minimum level, and shall keep a distance from other persons to at least 1,5 meters, including when travelling by public transport vehicles.
It is forbidden to stay in a restaurant, café, buffet, etc. except for those employed there. The only exemption is when collecting takeaway food.
You can leave your residence only on duly justified reasons set out in the Decree. Justified reason can be:
- going to work
- leisure sports activities, outdoor pedestrian traffic in the open air, preferably in green areas, may be carried out alone or with those living in the same household, with a minimum distance of 1.5 meters
- purchases at a grocery stores, drugstores, pet food shops, agricultural shops, markets, pharmacies, tobacco shops.
- access to health care or health services, including health services other than curative activities (visiting doctors, psychotherapists, physiotherapists)
- assisting a person who is unable to care for himself or herself (such as a minor, an elderly person or a sick person)

use of transport, cleaning and hygiene services,
- care of animals, walking of pets in public areas, visits to veterinary surgeries and animal hospitals,

visiting petrol stations,
-
use of services relating to the repair of motor vehicles and bicycles, and agricultural and forestry machinery and equipment,
-
use of waste management services,
-
the use, where necessary, of personalized administrative services such as administrative, banking, financial, insurance and postal services,
-
to accompany a minor child for the purpose of day care, or any other parental rights and obligations
- marriage and burial within a narrow family circle,
- religious activities.
Between 9 and 12 a.m. only persons over the age of 65 may visit any kind of shops (grocery stores, drugstores, pharmacies, etc.)
Compliance with the restrictive measures shall be monitored by the police, including any law enforcement bodies.
In the event of non-compliance with the above mentioned restrictions the police officer may apply measures. Police and other law enforcement bodies are allowed to impose a fine on those who breach the above mentioned restrictions. The minimum amount of the fine is 5.000 HUF, and the maximum amount is 500.000 HUF. Such measures shall be taken in accordance with the requirements of necessity and proportionality as defined in the Police Code.
