Official: the season is over now
The Hungarian Handball Association relaeased their decision about cancelling the competition for the season 2019/2020 both concerning the league and the Hungarian Cup.
According to the decision of MKSZ all handball competitions were suspended from 14th March. Today the Association held another meeting where they discussed wheter the season shall continue. It was an unanimous vote, according to which all competition under observation of the Association is now over for the 2019/2020 season.
No final placements will be announced and no relegations, promotions will take place in the league system. Concerning the international competitions those clubs are entitled to participate in the upcoming season, who were eligible and qualified to do so in the previous (2018/2019) season.
Our executive director, Mátyás Gábor commented the decision in the following way.
"It was a drastic but not a surprising decision. I think it is well justifiable too as the outcome of the upcoming weeks and months are completely unpredictable. We think the decision came on time, as at a few sport clubs no decisions have been made about certain things, and this makes the decisions much easier and shows the possible directions as well. As for our team, DKKA has make several decisions on our operation and we need to prepare for the time when we can finally continue the work in practice, so by the time we will all be ready for the challenges ahead of us.
