The Dunaújvárosi Kohász Handball Academy held another press conference on Thursday in the town hall. At the beginning of the meeting, Miklós Medgyesi, the local government's spokesman, said that a detailed press conference would be held on the situation of sports facilities within two weeks. In connection with the financial situation of DKKA, we learned that TAO uploads have taken place, with very good results, which is also due to the high-quality professional work of recent years. In addition, they can certainly see that the operation of the Academy, the development of the youth can be solved from this, while they will be able to run the team about one hundred million forints cheaper than before, which is a great relief for the city and the team.
Endre Barta, the deputy mayor for human affairs, was primarily pleased that handball in Dunaújváros has taken a good a direction; politics can begin to withdraw, and indeed everything will be about sports. "We still consider the direction to be very good, we are satisfied with the work going on here, and we see that the future we have built is building. We want to show in the future that Dunaújváros is the sports city of the nation, but let this story be about sports, about athletes and not about politcs" - he said.
Gábor Mátyás, executive director of DKKA, arrived at the press conference with two announcements, the first of which concerned the venue of the home matches of the adult team, while the second concerned the economic situation of the academy.
"I would like to thank the help we received from Szekszárd, that they allowed us to play our home matches with them. In the 2020/2021 season we will receive our opponents in Érd, in the Érd Arena. This hall is suitable in all respects for hosting high-quality NB I matches. In addition, of course, we are working to keep the academy running smoothly, so we are looking for sponsors, and last week we signed two contracts that will ensure athletes at the academy can play with great safety next season."
Manager Attila Gurics provided information on the changes in the player squad, emphasizing that while in March there were only four players with a contract at DKKA, this number has now risen to eighteen.
"An enthusiastic, young staff will continue their professional work in Dunaújváros. Attila Vágó will be the head coach of our adult team, and Márton Illés, who also coaches the youth team, will help his work as a second coach, to build a bridge between the adult and the younger ones. Ágnes Győri, who does not need to be introduced, she used to be a member of the team of DKKA, she strengthens the beach handball national team, and is a very talented young coach for goalkeepers. Árpád Takács continues his work with as a fitness coach, and it is a great pleasure for me that one of the icons of our city, Mihály Bába, masseour, will be part of the staff". Attila Gurics has also announced the arrival of four more players, so Sanja Dabevska, a 24-year-old international from Northern Macedonia. Also as a pivot Moutsogianni Theodóra returns to our team, she has been developing in Dunaújváros until the recent years. The world champion Petra Hlogyik who is coming from Pénzügyőr also continues her career at Dunaújvárosi Kohász, while Gréta Horváth is arriving from Szent István SE.
In the follow-up, head coach Attila Vágó said that we managed to certify players for the positions we wanted, and they can start the preparation with a large squad that can be used to work effectively. In addition to the tournament and the Hungarian Cup, there are also plans that our team will compete in the League Cup, so everyone will have plenty of playing time. Preparation will begin on 6th July, but the girls will meet in the very beginning of July to shake the things up with a two- to three-day team-building session. There will be eight weeks of preparation for the adults, with eight to nine preparatory matches, and they will also have a self-hosted tournament on the 21st and 22nd August.

Respondent to questions at the end of the press conference, manager Attila Gurics said that they are not very much looking to sign any additional players, yet they are still keeping an eye on the market. There is a roughly 99 percent chance that they will start the season with the current squad. On the other hand, the management considers it a serious task to get as many Dunaújváros fans as possible to the matches of Kohász in Érd. After all, one of the reasons for concluding the contract was that the supporters of Dunaújváros could be taken to the clashes of DKKA in such a large number as possible. Over the next two months, this will be one of their most important tasks, in addition to being able to somehow compensate their season ticket holders for the previous incomplete season.
