Step by step!

In the fifth part of our series introducing our new players, the supporters of DKKA can get acquainted with Dorina from Romania, who made her debut at NB I at the age of seventeen, and is very confident that her development will remain unbroken in Dunaújváros as well.

"I started playing handball in Gyöngyös, at the age of seven, with a sponge and leather balls. I could learn a lot from Fruzsi Kőrösi and Ági Völgyi, they were my coaches, then I moved to Debrecen at the age of 12 to Blanka Márián, I spent three years here, I gained a lot of experience I no longer had my parents with me, I was alone in the dormitory, so I learned a lot from the team there, they helped a lot, but I would like to highlight Blanka, I learned a lot from her professionally and humanly, it has a huge impact on my current situation, She contributed a lot to what I have become and for that I am very thankful. .

After finishing primary school, I went to the National Handball Academy, where almost everyone within the academy trained me, so Szilárd Kiss, János Hajdu, Bea Bohus, Péter Woth, Béla Bartalos also helped a lot. After three years, I had the opportunity to measure myself in NB I as well, so I signed for Loki, I also finished my final year of high school in Debrecen. I spent a year with the adult team, but with a double contract I also appeared with the Hajdúnánás team in the hope of more game opportunities. Then this was the reason why, I moved to Orosháza because I wanted to get more playing time. I spent two good years at ONKC, I really liked my time there. I got a lot of experience, and I was one of the defining players of the team, it came with a lot of burdens on my shoulders, but that's the point. All in all, I wanted challenges tasks ahead that required to be solved, I think it largely worked out. Then now I received offer from DKKA which I found very attractive, the expectations and the concept were sympathetic.When head coach Attila Vágó came signed for Kohász, it was a decisive factor for me as well to choose Dunaújváros. It was very good to work with him in Orosháza, and I think I can develop further with his assistance. I consider him a very good professional, he does not set impossible goals, he goes step by step, he does not have high expectations, but what he has, he demands them hard. If the team strikes the right note with him, there will be no problem, because he is an adaptive type, he is curious about the other's opinion, and easy to reach a compromise. 

Dorina also revealed how her strengths are on the track, what she still needs to improve on, and what she hopes for herself and our team in the 2020/2021 season.

"I consider myself quite attentive on the field, my strength can be called dribbling and timing my shots, but in the latter I still have room for improvement. I played a left back in Orosháza for the most part, and I didn't need to organize the game, so I ended the situations with a shot or a feint. However, I really want to improve on this, so I’m curious to see how I’ll respond to what’s waiting for me, but I’m very confident that there will be players with a lot of experience around me from whom I can learn a lot, as I’m also a buyer of that. As for my own goals, I don’t like to put it specifically, but obviously every young player aims to be dominant in NB I. My dad is a very big role model for me, he gives me a lot of strength, I always listen to his advice when he tells me to go step by step. For the goals I set, I work every day to become who I want to be. For example I have always dreamed of living the Scandinavian lifestyle, their mentality and attitude are very sympathetic, one day I would like to try myself out there once."

"Of course this is the distant future, the near future is here ahead of us, and I'm sure the next season will be interesting enough, everyone will give the best possible, because due to the coronavirus epidemic we couldn't finish the previous season, so whoever signed a new team, obviously I want to prove. Obviously we want to get as good a position as possible, but staying on the ground of reality I would aim for a strong mid-table finish. Although the team hasn't been together yet, we don't really know each other, who has what strengths, how we can help the other, but I truly believe we can be in a good position behind the top teams. "

The young playmaker of our team is really family-centric, so she spends her free time mostly among her loved ones.

"When is not about handball for me, I usually spend time with my partner and family, I have two sisters to them I cling quite a bit, they help me a lot in civil life and sports. My mother is my biggest fan! I get a lot of advice from them, I demand it too, because they have experienced a lot in sports and is private life too. In addition to the rest and the time spent in the family, I really like walking my dogs, we have two puppies, one is an American staffordshire terrier, the other is a French bulldog, and the latter will come to Dunaújváros with me. My average day lately is really about being home with my family, my nephew and my partner. I move a little less now because I want to make up for the time I haven’t been able to be with my family so far. Our lifestyle doesn’t really allow us to be at home much, now I can be with them much more. And while the daily routine lacks regular training until we’re told what kind of work we need to do, the family remains the first for me."
