Could have turned out otherwise

The adult team of our Academy continued the Hungarian League with the clash againstwell-performing Mosonmagyaróvár. The opponent which won ten of their eleven matches so far, had more chance to win today, but ours were hoping to get a good result. The start did not turn out badly, as after the goals of Szalai and Bulath, Kohász led 2-0 in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, not for long, because Mosonmagyaróvár first equalized after Szemerey's saves and then took the lead (2-3).

In the sequel, the teams were neck to neck, until the 16th minute, when the guests got away by two for the first time thanks to the excellent shooter, Eszter Tóth, and since the guests responded to our missed situations with another double, Attila Vágó had call a timeout in the 19th minute (5 -9). DKKA switched to six against six this time as well, but that didn't bring the desired effect, because at this stage our players committed lots of mistakes in attack. Four minutes before the half the team of János Gyurka team led by six goals already (8-14). Of course, the girls did not give it up for a second, they organized their defense, and they finally finished their shots more accurately on the other side of the court, so they managed to come closer, the teams went to rest with 11-15.

After switching the sides, the players found another shift on the gauge. The game become more pacey, the teams scored more and more goals in a row, but since the guests were a bit more accurate here, they managed to increase the difference again. At the beginning of the 36th minute 15-21 stayed on the scoreboard. Our team tried hard, but it took a missed penalty and a mistake, so the visiting team scored their 24th goal in the 40th minute. The fate of the points seemed to be decided (17-24), however, our handball players found something, they forced MKC into a goalless 5 minute period, and and made a 5-0 (!) run thanks to the saves of our goalie, Anastasija Babovic. The match was completely open again by the middle of the second half (22-24).

Unfortunately, Mosonmagyaróvár could react in time and came back to the game again, they doubled their advantage with the goals of Flóra Katona and Simova Sarkova. Although our team could come closer once again, the missed home situations and the fast scores of the visitors did not give us a chance to seek for an equalizer. In the final minutes, we would have had the opportunity to catch up again, but while being three goals down further missed attacks meant that there was no chance for a comeback. Mosonmagyaróvár retained its advantage, and in the end they took the points from the Dunaújváros Sports Hall with a 34-29 success.
