„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Bába Mihály passed away
We are deeply saddened to announce that our masseur, Mihály Bába died following his serious accident last week!
This is an indescribable pain for Dunaújváros' handball, as he would have started his 36th season this year with us. A real icon and role model of us has gone, whose name is intertwined with our association, and without whom not any matches will ever be the same. The Dunaújvárosi Kohász Handball Academy had lost one of their own
Mihály Bába was born on June 30, 1955 in Dunaújváros. He started working at the local steelworks in 1970, and was an excellent athlete in the wrestling department of Dunaújvárosi Kohász SE. During his career he achieved outstanding results, he won the Hungarian championship bronze medal among juniors and adults as well. After active sports, in addition to his work, he started pursuing his masseur career. From 1973 to 1983 he was at the football team Dunaújvárosi Építők. After that, in 1984 he returned to his beloved association, to the Dunaújvárosi Kohász. Mihály Bába has been a masseuse for the NB I women's handball team since 1985, where he worked until March 16, 2021. He was able to take part in all the outstanding results of the women's handball team: in addition to five Hungarian championship titles and the same number of Hungarian Cup victories, he won all international cups with the association. In recent years, he has been working as a masseur at various teams in Dunaújváros (men's handball, hockey, football) for a longer or shorter period of time. Between 2005 and 2009, he also worked beside the Hungarian women's national handball team, where he was also a part of winning the European Championship bronze medal and the world championship bronze medal. Mihály Bába - or as everyone knew and called him, Misike - was always proud to be able to represent Dunaújváros at these world competitions; till the end of his life he was loyal to his beloved association! There is no question that the country's sports community has also lost a great professional, an excellent person.
