„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
A huge fight
Adult ensemble of our Academy excelled for 45 minutes against the defending title holder, but Ferencváros with a better final part were able to win in the Dunaújváros Sports Hall.
Against the defending champion, Ferencváros we continued the championship fights with a domestic clash at home. The odds were clearly in the favour of the green-and-white tea,, but DKKA's professional management was confident that our team would be able to correct the mistakes that were typical during the previous match and play a good game.
The visitors from the capital started better, managed to reach 3-1 in a matter of seconds with their quick attacks, but the Academists also got into the game quick and were able to turn quickly with Bartulovic's saves and with the hits coming from Krupják-Molnár and Borgyos (4-3). Unfortunately, the guests quickly arranged their defense, and they were operating with fast-breaks from the easily obtained balls, so in the 15th minute Attila Vágó invited his players to the sideline (5-8).
The short break seemed to help, so did Bartulovic, as she continued to deliver in front of out own goal, while Bulath and Szalai were successful with breaking their defending on the other side, so in the 18th minute Gábor Elek had to call a timeout (8-8). However, Kohász still played very bravely, took the lead thanks to Szalai and after Bartulovic's brilliance and Kazai's goal we were leading by two (11-9). Fradi did not want to stay behind of course, they managed to equalize while they had one more player on the court, but then Bulath hit the net and our team was able to march into the break with a 13-12 lead.
It was expected that a Fradi that is more hungry for blood would arrive on the field for the second part of the game, but the Kohász players were still fighting enormously, in addition to a stable defense, Bulath and Polics also shot trough the wall well, and again the advantage grew to two. The opponent used their second timeout call in the 40th minute as the title holder couldn’t catch up with us (16-14). Although this didn’t seem to help FTC either, a couple of lost balls from which Klujber scored easy goals were enough for them and in the 46th minute the capital team equalized (17-17).
Along came a time out call from Kohász, we switched in attack to seven against six, but minor mistakes were penalized, Bölk took advantage of this twice, so Fradi finally took the lead in the 48th minute (18-19). During Szalai's suspension the advantage of the green-whites was already two, then quckly it grew to three, this resulted the third DKKA timeut from Attila Vágó (19-22). Our team still held its opponent until 22-24, but unfortunately they ran out of energy for the last couple of minutes, so Fradi decided the match with a 4-0 run and defeated the otherwise excellent fighting Academists who fought excellently during the bigger of the clash.
