„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
We play for the bronze tomorrow
There was no chance in the semi-finals against Győr, but my bronze medal can still gather for our handball players in the four finals of the Hungarian Cup.
The adult team of our academy, has started against defending champion of the series Győri Audi ETO KC in the semi-finals of the Hungarian Cup tonight. The odds were clearly on the favour of Győr. We knew that if there will be no big surprise, we will play against Siófok in the bronze medal contest on the next day, and since we have lot of injuries within the team, it was clear that ours are saving as much energy for the second clash as possible.
Despite of the good start, Győr shifted pace and did a 7-0 run. Attila Vágó called a timeout where he tried to persuade his pupils to fight harder (9-3). The coach completely changed the lineup, the youths got playing time. At first it was visible, but then the youngsters started to play better, and what's more important; more efficient as well. Győr was confidently keeping the huge advantage until the end of the half.
The second 30 minutes did not hold too much excitement, but Győr's defense sood still strong, while ours made more mistakes than necessary, the gap between the two guards widened further (25-11). Although we had flares, ETO did not slow down and further increasing its advantage, it reached the final of the cup with a very smooth 39-18 victory. In the final, ETO can play with Ferencváros for the gold medal, while as expected ours will prove it against Siófok (which only lost with penalties against FTC) in the bronze match starting at three o'clock in the afternoon,
