„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
DVSC secured their third place in Dunaújváros
Debrecen could be much happier in the last match of the season.
The last match of the season took place at home against Debrecen, who were chasing the third place in the league. Before the starting whistle, the management of our academy bid farewell to the leaving players of the club: Johanna Farkas, Kata Farkas, Gabrijela Bartulovic, Anita Kazai, Luca Poczetnyik and Saskia Weisheitel.
It was no secret, that the visitors were the favourites and started the game accordingly, responding to Poczetnyik's leading goal with four goals in the first five minutes (1-4).
Despite Nick's goal, it did not continue well either, as after the second Kohasz goal, the visitors scored five in a row, and in the 11th minute the scoreboard showed 2-9. Unfortunately, the bad start also determined the rest of the game, because after another ten minutes the visitors led 16-6, and although we managed to reduce the deficit somewhat by the half-time break, the opponents still led by eight goals, 22-14.
At half-time, we welcomed Roland Virág's academy players, who won the U17 III championship group with a great performance.
After swuitching sides a big turnaround in the game was needed to make it a close game. And indeed it changed, in the first minutes almost everything went our way; thanks to quick saves and counterattacks we got back into the game (18-22). But then came a well-timed timeout from Zoltan Szilágyi, and Debrecen managed to surprise our team with a 5-0 run, finally deciding the fate of the points (18-27). This was kept difference until the 50th minute, but in the final drive Debrecen was much more accurate again, and increased their lead further, and finally won the bronze medal of the championship with a smooth 39-25 victory, while our team finished the league in 10th place.
