„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Not our day either
The MTK got their first win of the season against the adult team of our academy.
Our academy's adult team faced MTK, which team was still without a win this season, but they finally had their injured players back in action, The last two games of our handball players have not gone as planned, so the goal was to get the points against the blue and whites with an improved, disciplined performance.
Despite this, the home team started the game better, and not even four minutes into the first half, when MTK led 4-1. Our players came back to 5-4 with goals from Horváth and Szalai, but unfortunately they could not get any further, and in the 14th minute the hosts led by three again (9-6). After Oguntoye's save and a missed shot, first Borgyos and then Petra Horváth scored again. Although we came back to within one in the 18th minute, but after 9-8, our team surrendered six times in a row without scoring, so the scoreboard showed a 17-12 lead for the capital at the break.
It would have taken a big turnaround to have a chance to come back, but MTK started the second period better, and went on a 3-1 run to trail by seven (20-13). Although our offensive play improved, our defense didn't work, so the home team kept their six to seven goal lead and even took advantage of another goalless period of Dunaújváros to lead 31-19 in the 49th minute. There was no excitement left for the final whistle, the team from the capital held on to their lead and finally kept the championship points at home with a very smooth 35-24 win, while the team suffered their sixth defeat this season and remained ninth in the table. It seems, that serious reconsideration is necessary after today's performance.
