Useful discussion about tutoring of the youth
Gyula Zsiga, professional director of Hungarian Handball Association visited our Academy and had some useful and beneficial reconciliation with the management and coaches of our team.
Today our Academy received a honorable visitor, as the new professional director of the Hungarian Handbal Association (MKSZ), Gyula Zsiga paid a visit to Dunaújváros. The excellent professional was part of Dunaferr’s first home and international successes and he still bears beautiful memories about our city. This time however the point of the meeting was not to recall the good old times, but to discuss serious and important questions. First he sit down separately with the coaches responsible for the training of the youths at our Academy and he shared the professional concepts of the Association, later he also met the management, but between the reconciliations he some time to give a short interview about his new role in MKSZ as well about the point of his current visit.
- „We have a new conception concerning training of the youth that we would like to implement. It will contain the most important factors of handball training from the age of 7 until 18. A unified approach is very much necessary. This means that it can only work effectively if all the training centers have the same thoughts and methods related to certain upbringing phases everywhere, no matter whether it is located in Dunaújváros or in Budapest for example. Professional supervisors will oversee the work in a county level at the clubs. We really would like to see a continuous discussion not just between the Association and the clubs but between clubs, between coaches which is based on sharing and exchanging information with each other. As for now, this is my most important task to do, but beside this I am also responsible for managing the youth national teams and maintaining active connection with professionals. Tenders concerning TAO are being prepared, I am trying to come up with some supplementation which strengthens its professional aspects. Also an important job is to measure the characteristics of the different age groups and take them into consideration while creating the competitions for them. We took some steps forward related to this during the past few years, and next year’s announcement of competition reflects our ideas more.”
From the season 2017/2018 there will be huge changes implemented concerning the system of youth competitions. The junior age group leaves off, also it will be limited in which age groups the first division teams (NB1) can nominate their teams. According to Gyula Zsiga this decision had to be made in order to give opportunity for youth players to start their careers in an adult team at a younger age.
- „We have modified the announcement of competition, for example in the second league (NB1/B) only the age group of 1999 or younger players will be allowed to participate if the association has another team competing in the first league (NB1). Besides this there will be an open youth championship where the age group described above will be the oldest one. Since girls mature earlier than boys, we would like to inspire these players to join the adult league already. We think a junior championship was not an effective one, it did not fit well in the training progress, so now we try to change things in an artificial way.”
The professional director had a fruitful meeting with the coaches and managers of our Academy, and the feedbacks coming from the club are positive. He hopes that due to the new professional conception the number of Hungarian coaches and players will increase once again in NB1.
- „Today I wanted to share my ideas with the professionals at the club. I truly believe that a change of perspective is necessary, we want to favor the Hungarian coaches and the Hungarian players, concerning this the Dunaújvárosi Kohász Handball Academy has the best of the running in the county, and there is no need to whip or urge them towards the right direction. We exchanged views, opinions, since I am here for the first time as a representative of the Hungarian Handball Association. These kind of reconciliations are needed, fortunately wherever I have been so far, my experiences were positive. I hope that this kind of qualification and professional experience that I bring along from the previous times, will serve good regarding the new scope of duties of mine." - said the specialist who got the Champions League with Dunaferr.
