„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Talented youngsters at our Sports Hall
Almost forty young handball players took part in our Academy’s “festive” selection day.
DKKA invited girls born between 2006 and 2009 to apply for recruitment that was held on 23rd October at the Sports Hall of Dunaújváros. In addition to the usual skill and strength tests, a joint game and an individual talks were part of the professional program. While the trialists tried to give their best on the court, the accompanying parents were not bored either, as the experts of our association, together with the invited directors of the vocational schools of Dunaújváros gave them information about education possibilites and the academic system.
No wonder our professional director, István Kovács, happily evaluated after the successful event:
"Due to the known epidemic restrictions, I expected around 30 players to apply, which was eventually well overcome, as although four testers cancelled their application on the last day for various reasons, still 37 contestants made it and arrived to Dunaújváros on Saturday, At the preliminary meeting, we talked about the need to put together a very professional day for the applicants, that is worthy of the Academy’s reputation. After registration and a warm-up session for our adult player, Cecília Takács, the players took part in a technical and post-specific challenges. Then physical tests compiled by senior fitness trainer Tibor Horváth followed. While the youths showed their abilities, the parents were invited to the VIP room, where three prominent directors and deputy directors of our city, István Szemenyei (DSZC Rudas Technical School), Zoltán Kraczmajer (Széchényi István High School) and Gyula Baráth (Pannon Education Center) informed them about the training opportunities. For the tired athletes we offered a lunch. Then the adult players of our association - Babett Szalai, Tímea Polics, Beatrix Krupják-Molnár, Cecília Takács, Viktória Kukucska - interviewed each applicants about their relationship with the sport of handball and their experiences gained during the day. Of course, we ended the day with a game together. I think we held a fast-paced, smooth, successful selection in all respects, where the professional staff showed that they can őut a high-quality event together. This is also supported by the parental feedback received since then," said István Kovács.
Of course, the follow-up of the candidates does not end, the professional management would like to organize at least two more such trial days for the young players, so the development of the selected ones can be observed until they join the Academy.
