After a good defensive play, Szalai scored the next goal as well, and although there was a quick response from the opponents, approaching the midpoint of the half, it seemed our team caught the rhythm, as Agócs and Bouti reduced the deficit to two goals by the 14th minute (5-7). However, this joy didn't last long as NEKA extended their lead to four again by the 19th minute, then another timeout was called for the home team at 6-9, as there were still many errors in the game, primarily in finishing attacks. Kincső Csapó, a former youth player of Dunaújváros', played a significant role in maintaining NEKA's advantage with several brilliant saves.
Despite missed opportunities, we managed to reduce the gap to two goals again by the 24th minute, but then came more missed chances and turnovers, leading to conceding three goals in two minutes, and NEKA led by five again (8-13). Towards the end of the half, Kohász somewhat pulled themselves together, with Szalai and Paróczy's goals reducing the deficit to two again, but the guests were successful at the end of the half, leading them to halftime much more content (11-14).
After the halftime break, our handballers needed improvement mainly in finishing attacks. They started with two quick goals, and although they had a chance to equalize, unfortunately, they couldn't use those opportunities (13-14). Paróczy's easy suspension wasn't beneficial, but Szalai equalized even with a player down at the beginning of the 36th minute. Yet the guests immediately scored twice into an empty net, regaining the lead (14-16). After Szalai and Horváth's goals, the scoreboard showed equality again, but our team couldn't surpass their shadow, despite having several attacks to take the lead (17-18).
Although we weren't happy about Nick's suspension after Bouti's excellent breakthrough, our team managed to level the score again in the 46th minute. What happened in the final minutes was something we haven't seen in the sports hall (not many times at other halls either) for a long time. Kohász's handballers took control with a 3-0 streak, and although the guests called a timeout, it didn't help them, as our handballers were on fire while their opponents fell apart completely. Until the 58th minute, our team scored another nine goals unanswered, practically everything succeeded for them, while nothing worked for NEKA. Although after a 13-0 period NEKA broke their long goal drought, it was too late, as Kohász ultimately secured a comfortable 32-20 victory, holding onto the crucial two points at home.
