„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
4th place finish in the league and qualification for the EHF Cup!
In a tough game against Alba Fehérvár KC our team managed to win and therefore to keep their 4th place on the league table.
It was a farewell from the season 2017/2018 today for the first team of DKKA. The pupils of László György László had a tough draw as they needed to beat our county rival, Alba Fehérvár KC to surely keep their place in the league.
The visitors started the match well, especially in defending as they just conceded one goal in the first six minutes (1-2). After the saves from Viktória Oguntoye first Micijevic, then Szekerczés scored, and Babett Szalai hit the net too, Kohász quickly turned the score (4-2). Goals came from both sides one by one at this stage of the game, but then we managed to strengthen our defense then we could get away by three goals. Rita Deli, the coach of FKC needed to invite theirs to the sideline (8-5).
The small pause did not loose the concentration of our girls. After successfully defending the goal, Kohász could keep the lead by quick counter attacks; Vivien Grosch scored two fast-break goals, and increased the lead to 5 goals (13-8). However the opponent did not give it up either and they punished our errors at the end of the first half (16-13).
In the break three youth teams of DKKA have been awarded by the management as they all the three teams, the teeners, the youths and also our U20 team have won their own leagues.
The celebration did not help, as Alba managed to come closer within a few minutes, so László György needed to call a timeout this time (18-17). We seemed to have difficulties in attack, but our captain, Babett Szalai kept us in the game. with some very important goals. On the other side of the court Jelena Lavko led her team successfully (23-22).
Micijevic got into the game in the best time, then Klujber turned a 7m throw into a goal. Oguntoye, who had her last match in Kohász saved brilliantly, and in the 50th minute 26-22 stayed on the scoreboard. Kohász did not let the opponent to turn the game in the last minutes and kept their lead. With a final result of 30-27 it was sure that the girls finished 4th this controversial and difficult season.
After the final whistle the management of DKKA said farewell to the players who leave the team after this season. Anita Bulath, Viktória Oguntoye and Dusmáta Takács as well as Tibor Horváth, head of office continue their career at another teams. They all got a big applause from the supporters.
