„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
League expectations
At the weekend ahead of us adult and youth teams of DKKA will start the new season. We predict that it will be a challenging one for our teams. The management of our team shared their views on this challenge.
Vártok Ákos, head of youth development:
- We plan to nurse the concept of the academy. It is our aim to train more and more players for the Hungarian handball sport and for the first team of DKKA. It is a measurement point how many players become ready to play among the adults. We do have some impressive results in youth and teeners level, but at this young age not this is all what matters, but mastering the game elements, the technique and the tactics as intensively as possible.
György László, head coach of the first team:
- As it is the case in every time, the season ahead of us seems tough now. There are some new faces, and in the Viborg training camp we lost one of our key players, Camila Micijevic, without her it will be even more difficult. All players now need to do their bests for each other on the court, it is not easy. Therefore we did not set a concrete goal concerning the final standings at the end of the league, we aim a middle-table finish, while we intend to provide the impressive young talents with enough playing opportunity as well. It is important to get the upper hand versus our potential rivals, to get well prepared and become better tactically, physically and also mentally in a year from now.
Imre Vilmos, sport director:
- For us the aim is to give playing time for our youngsters a little above of their level, for them it is important for them to seize these opportunities. I am not just talking about the first team, but it is a key point in the whole youth system. We want to build a well-beloved community we want to see that more and more people visit our matches as this is how supporters show their feedback about our work. The league is one of the toughest - if not the toughest - in Europe. Our rivals strengthened their teams with quality international players. As an academy it is not our aim to compete with them in this aspect, we rather rely on Hungarian players. We seek for talents, but we also accept that this is a long process. At the moment we have 5-6 players that are ready to get into the squad of the first team. I believe that the supporters will appreciate to see these players who have been training hard in Dunaújváros for years to finally make an appearance on the highest level. We shall not commit the mistake that we only think about results, the most important is to give our best in each game. Even if we lose against a stronger team, to get into the dressing room with head high. Obviously it is never easy to bear not for a trainer or as a supporter, but I do think we are capable to get some nice results this year.
Radulovics Bojana, professional director:
- I see that for this season we gathered a close-knit community. The injury of Camila Micijevic is an unexpected outlay, and the other teams are stronger than ever, so it this season will not be a piece of cake, yet I am confident. It will be important that the players on the court shall fight for each other and give the maximum. We do not want to put pressure on our players concerning where they should be at the end of the season, but the fire shall be there, they shall be eager to win and work hard on the trainings as well. This will be reaping the reward. Our players are really young, we will see how many bad periods come across, but I am sure some players will improve a lot during the season. The Junior World Championship showed how much it matters if the supporters get behind a team. I ask our supporters to come and visit the games of the academy, see these girls, they deserve the backing. Hajrá Kohász!
