„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
The better team won
Siófok managed to come up with a better second half and used their experience for their favor.
During the summer world-class international players arrived to Siófok. In the previous round they got a more than decent win against DVSC. No easy task awaited for our young team against them.
There could have been no complaint about eagerness, we started well, with tough faults in defence. Kobetic and Minko showed their class, but in the home side with the goals from Szalai, Szekerczés és Ferenczy we kept up the speed (3-3). The game was intense even the referees had problems to react well at different stages of the match. Our girls fought well, and even when on the 18th minute the opponent had a two goal lead for the first time, showed some decent work in defending. Thanks to the goals of Sirián and Szekerczés they equalized (8-8). The away team needed to call a timeout, yet in the 22nd minute the home side gained the lead. There was even a chance to increase this lead, but the Romanian international, Dedu saved two penalties when it was critical. With a draw at halftime could get the teams to the dressing room. The supporters remained hopeful, although they knew, Siófok is the one, that had more reinforcements.
It become visible at the beginning of the second half, as Siófok quickly had a 3-0 run, the home timeout helped a bit, and it seemed like that we stabilized our defending and soon we were just one down again (15-16). The opponent could use that our team members were tired, and even younger players came from the bench for DKKA. Aoustin and Minko increased the difference between the teams and they kept this until the 50th minute (18-21). In the final ten minutes the quality between the two squads became clearly visible, our youngsters run out of breath, Kobetic started to have more and more clear chances, that she used well indeed. This period was won by Siófok 4-1 so they gained a 26-20 victory against a Kohász side that fought well, yet committed too many mistakes during the second half.
György László: - We fought brilliantly today against a much stronger opponent. I congratulate our girls for them. The six goal difference seems fair at this stage, but it could have been even better. I am concerned about the missed penalties and the bad use of our advantages.
