„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
We're almost in the next round
A clear victory away against the swiss opponent, Spono Eagles in the second round of the EHF Cup.
We were hosted by the Swiss champion, Spono Eagles today afternoon. The team of György László hoped for a win, but did not expect an easy game against the team of Nottwil, whose players - as we learned - tend to run much and play quick in attack.
They began the game better, as from the first charge they gained the lead and it took pretty four minutes for Kohász to equalize. After this they managed to get the lead another two times, but Klujber and Ferenczy managed to hit the net on the other side of the court. In the 9th minute finally Szekerczés could turn the game (3-4). The next stage involved a 3-0 run for DKKA. The opponent wanted to stay close so they managed to get just one behind (6-7), but another 3-0 run meant that after 15 minutes we got away by four goals (10-6). A 2-minute-suspension helped the Eagles to come closer, but with the goals of Szekerczés, Klujber and Szalai our lead started to become comfortable (9-14). The good final spurt from Molnár Beatrix was useful as she scored two for us before the halftime. During the pause 11-16 stayed on the scoreboard.
Although the second half was started better by the Swiss team again, but right after the hosts remained standing while Kohász scored six in a row. Tomasevic showed some great skills in the goal while our attackers did not miss their chances. In the 36th minute already ten goals separated the teams (12-22). Another five minutes were necessary for the opponent to break the ice, but it did not help much, the Kohász players could still find the net easily (13-27). Maybe due to the big goal difference, or because the final stage of the game was drawing near and concentration of the girls started to lack, György László coach invited his players to the sideline in the 45th minute. Although Kohász got some suspensions towards the end, the goal difference between the teams did not get tighter; DKKA won the game 35-21. It means that our team is in a comfortable position after the first game, can look forward to the second leg of the contest next weekend in Dunaújváros.
György László: - From the airport we got directly to the sports hall, we had like a 30 min long walk, and another half an hour for the warm-up then the match started. The Swiss team used their open style defending well during the first minutes. As soon as we could adapt ourselves to this the difference started to grow, which we managed to hold until halftime well. In the second half we could strengthen our defense, and yet play effective up-front, which gave us confidence. The home team fought well until the final whistle, we could not take it easy when we had a vast lead. I am happy for my girls, they really needed this success!
