„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
A knock-out victory in the EHF Cup
DKKA's players were smashing today and got a 29 victory agaist Spono Eagles on the second leg of the European competiton.
After the nice result that Kohász achieved in the first leg of the contest (35-21), they hoped to be victorious at home as well. As most of the supporters know to get qualified to the next round in the EHF Cup, DKKA had to be better in two games than Spono Eagles, a Swiss team from small town called Nottwil.
The visitors could keep up the pace with our team in the beginning. Although we got an early three-goal-lead, in the 8th minute the scoreboard showed 6-4. With the fact that the home defense got tougher the difference started to grow. The home side used their fast break opportunities well. Between the 12th and the 20th minute the Eagles failed to hit the net thanks among other things to our goalkeeper, Katarina Tomasevic who was class today. In attack Szekerczés, Klujber, Szalai and Sirián could score easy goals. After 19 minutes the difference grew to 10 goals already. In the 20th minute the visitors scored one, but in exchange they conceded 5 goals until the end of the half from the home attackers. 21-7 was the score at halftime.
Not much excitement awaited the supporters in the second half as total 28 goals separated the two teams after 90 minutes of playing time. Our girls however did not slow down. Our defending was outstanding and even if the players of Spono could find the gaps Csapó Kyra managed to show some nice saves at the goal. Grosch was on fire and scored a few fast break goals, so 8 minutes after the beginning of the half Kohász led by 20 (27-7). György László coach rotated the team well before, but in the last period the youngest ones, like Fodor Neszta, Mihály Petra also got the opportunity to contribute with their performance to the victory. Mihály managed to hit the net 4 times from the right wing. At the time of the final whistle 43-14 stood on the scoreboard, Dunaújvárosi Kohász managed to get into the next round in the EHF Cup, concerning which a draw will be held next Tuesday. Should we be victorious in the third round as well we will get into the group stage of the competititon.
György László: - We are really happy about our victory, about the fact that everyone had the opportunity to play, and finally about that no one got injured. We took the game fairly both in attack and in defense. We needed these victories to get some self-confidence for the league.
Mirco Stadelmann: - The fact that 7 players were missing from our lineup made it really hard for us. I assume it would not be enough for a win if they are there, but the look of the game would have been different. Our youngest ones could get us just so far today. Congrats to Dunaújváros.
