„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Farewell victory
In a game full with twists and turns our girls were victorious in the second leg of the EHF Cup at the arena of Super Amara Bera Bera.
DKKA lost the first leg by 8 goals at home with an awful performance. Today they were hosted by their Spanish-Basque opponent in the second leg, but there were not so much hopes for a qualification to the group stage of the EHF Cup contest. To make things worse, Klujber Katrin got injured midweek against Siófok KC, she could not join the team to the away trip, yet out head coach, György László hoped for a victory.
There could have been no complaint concerning the start, at least not about our defending, the girls were tough, they were keen to clash with the attackers. The first goal came by Szekerczés who successfully scored a penalty. In attack we committed some mistakes one after the other, and these were punished by the opponent (2-1). Once again Szekerczés broke our goalless period in the 9th minute, then after the saves from Tomasevic, Sirián got a double so after 13 mins we were already two up (2-4). The Spanish team strengthened their defending as well, without long shots it was hard to score. In attack they were also keen to find the gap in Dunaújváros' defense line. 10 minutes were left when the home team equalized (6-6). At this time DKKA got three 2-minute suspensions, first they were one player down, but later almost for two minutes they needed to be two players down. The visitors could use this advantage and they got the lead. Luckily our right-back, Szekerczés Luca was unstoppable. Bera Bera could keep one goal advantage for the break (11-10).
The Spanish team got a better start in the second half. With two quick goals they got away by three goals for the firs time on this match (13-10). There was no panic at the away bench, the team of György László did not collapse, Kazai and Grosch hit the net, then in the 39th minute Kazai contributed with another goal to the match and levelled the game (14-14). From this time on Super Amara Bera Bera got the lead two times, but after 16-14 Sirián, Grosch and Szalai scored and turned the game (16-17). Our attacking efforts declined again, and the home side scored three in a row, but then again Szalai and Ferenczy showed their skills and equalized once again. When the final ten minutes of the game started the teams were neck and neck (19-19). György László sent Monori Orsolya to the court who missed out not less than 8 months after her serious injury. Not her, but Szekerczés got the leading role and she scored two stunning goals. (20-22). During the play 7 vs. 6 our team committed some mistakes and the hosts equalized by two goals to an empty goal. But they did not have an answer to the 8th hit from Szekerczés, so our girls managed to get a victory on the second leg. We could be sad about the bad home result that did not give us a chance, with a combined score based on the two legs the Spanish team got into the group stage of EHF Cup.
