„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Bad ten minutes decided it all
In the second half the girls could not continue the first period's bravery, this resulted a 29-24 defeat in Érd.
Our opponent was Érd who were in the 4th place in the league table before the match. Beside quite a few injured players announced earlier this time we could not count with Szalai Babett, captain of our team who suffered a bad injury against Mosonmagyaróvár. The hosts were the favourites of this clash, our aim was to play without any pressure.
Érd scored first, and at this stage of the game we did not expet that it was the last time they had the lead in the first half. Szekerczés scored two goals to level up the game and then Molnár found her way through the defense. After 9 minutes Kohász was leading by two (3-5). It took just another 3 minutes for Érd to equalize again (6-6). We managed to get the upper hand all the time, but the home team always had a comeback. Our situation worsened in the 18th minute when Monori Orsolya suffered an seemingly serious injury on her ankle. At 11-11 György László called his timeout to re-group the team. Grosch and Szekerczés hit the net that forced the home coach to invite hers to the sideline. Both substitute goalies, Vártok Ramóna and Julie Foggea showed some saves, there was only one home goal until the end of the half (13-14).
It was a question, how long the short-benched Kohász can keep up the pace and the focus against a much stronger team. Unfortunately the difference became truly visible. Foggea started to produce nice saves and DKKA missed their chances in the front. Érd was on fire and used their opportunities. 5 minutes after the break our coach called a timeout again (17-15). It did not help, as the hosts had another 3-0 run and after the suspensions of Nick and Bouti in the 42nd minute the fate of the two points was decided (23-16). Kohász fought well and managed to come closer to its opponent, thanks to Mihály, Kazai and Bouti the gap decreased to only 4 goals, but this was all that our team, that was missing out on so many injured players could do tonight. Érd won the match with a final score of 29-24.
