„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Important two points we gathered
It was way more close contest against Békéscsaba than two weeks ago in the Hungarian Cup, but we won the game tonight!
Not long ago, we managed to defeat the South-Easterners in the cup with a final score of 35-25, but György László told us before the game, that this time in the league he expects a really tough fight on the court.
Kohász did not start well, although Sirián Szederke got the lead for us, Békéscsaba had a 3-0 run right after. Nick found herself in pivot position and halved the difference between the teams, then Kazai scored after a fast break. Szalai even got the lead for Kohász in the 8th minute (5-4). Walfisch from the opponent team had unstoppable shots tonight, she turned the score, but then again Kazai, Szekerczés and Grosch found the net and the purple-whites needed to call a timeout (11-9).
It seemed that it did not help the visitors, as after the saves from Csapó, DKKA managed to increase their lead. Kohász played quicker than its opponent at this stage of the game and after 24 minutes, six goals divided the teams (16-10). There were some mistakes of course towards the end of the half, but the home team managed to keep the lead.
Although it seemed a comfortable lead, it was sure, that we cannot take the win for granted when another 30 minutes awaited the teams. Especially when Vukajlovic scored two in a row, and five minutes into the second half the difference that separated the two teams was halved by Békéscsaba (19-16). Szalai and Grosch tried their best to take Kohász forward, but at this stage of the game we struggled on the court. György Lászlónak invited his players to the sideline in the 39th minute (21-17). After the quick break we managed to get away once again by six goals, but the team from Viharsarok did not give it up, Walfisch and Vukajlovic kept striking successfully, and they erased the difference between the teams (25-24).
Lots of mistakes characterized the play of DKKA, Görgy László used his third timeout opportunity and it worked, as Grosch broke the long goalless period of ours, and quickly after Dombi Luca scored too. This time Horváth Roland wanted to give instructions to his players (27-24). Yet right after Szalai showed her skills, but Marincsák and Dombi Kata brought Békéscsaba closer again. When it was crucial, Csapó Kyra saved nicely and Szekerczés scored. Unfortunately Walfish proved to be unstoppable, so even 2 minutes before the final whistle we could not be sure about our win (30-28). After a missed home chance Békéscsaba could attack with one more player on the court, but they failed to score, which resulted that DKKA won tonight's clash. We remained 9th on the league table.
