„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
A clear Győr win
We suffered an 11-goal-defeat in the league at the title holder's place.
Our next opponent was the last year's Champions League and Hungarian League winner, Győri Audi ETO KC. They were topping the league table before the match and had a 6-point-lead ahead of the second Ferencváros. Although we managed to play a close game with Győr at home in autumn, the odds were clearly on the favour of the hosts.
The green-whites started the game better, scored the first two goals on the game. Grosch and Szekerczés broke the ice for DKKA as well, but 6 minutes after the start 6-3 stayed on the scoreboard. Kohász however got closer and closer, Csapó saved two in a row, Szekerczés, Ferenczy and Kazai found the net on the other side of the court and we managed to equalize in the 11th minute (6-6). Unfortunately our players started to make some mistakes in attack, that were all punished by the home team. Győrgy László called a timeout to shake his players up (10-7).
The pause helped to clear the girl's minds, we were just one goal behind, but two suspensions gave a brilliant opportunity for Győr to get away again. And they did it. They increased the gap between the teams (13-9), and due to the fact that our players could not bear with ETO's tough defending, quickly they added two more goals to their lead (15-9). Szekerczés broke our goalless period, and although we had the chance to be just three behind, another two mistakes cost us two goals again. The score was 17-12 at the half.
We hoped for a better performance in attack but we simply failed to score during the first five minutes of the second half. Győr proved to be merciless (20-12). Having a two player advantage we could get back to the game, but when the opponent had full strength again we could not find the way through their defense. More easy goals from the home side decided the outcome of the game. In the 46th minute already we were ten goals down (26-16). The final minutes did not bring much excitement, although the difference did not grow significantly. The team of Győr unfortunately easily managed to collect both points, DKKA remained 9th on the league table.
