„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
It was not our day
Weak performance both in attack and defending resulted a defeat against MTK Budapest.
We continued the league with an away match against MTK. The hosts had some really good games at home this season, but DKKA gained 8 more points this season than them. Although scoring the opener, the rest of the game did not go as planned. Lots of mistakes in attack, we missed our chances, even a 7m throw, so the Budapest team took the lead. György László had to call a timeout very early in the game (5-4). Defending did not become stronger, so the physically strong players of MTK could find a way to score easily (10-8). Szekerczés kept DKKA close to the opponent, but then Nick Viktória was the one who levelled the game in the 24th minute (12-12). Could not be happy with it for long as another wrong defending and a ball we gave away resulted again a two goal lead for the blue-whites, which they kept until halftime (15-13).
An improvement would have been needed in defense to get something out of this game, but even after the break it did not seem to work. The home team doubled their lead within 2 minutes. Ferenczy and Nick managed to score, but in the 40th minute MTK were still leading by 4 (19-15). The girls visibly struggled, in the 46th minute the head coach invited them to the sideline once again (20-16). The break helped as Szalai and Grosch scored, but just one slight mistake, and MTK got away again. (22-18). Kohász managed to cut the goal difference, but the home team wisely kept their lead in the final minutes. The final score was 26-24, the team of Vlagyimir Golovin got a well-deserved victory.
