„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
A well fought game
Our girls gained a three-goal victory wit a final score of 23-20 against Mosonmagyaróvár in the Arena today.
The league continued for us with a home game against EU-Fire Mosonmagyaróvári KC. The girls of György László suffered a one goal defeat on a controversial match between the two teams in the autumn, so we hoped for a payback time, especially as the opponent resided right behind us on the league table.
Both teams struggled from the beginning to get the upper hand, MKC started with an open defending, while the hosts played with 6 defenders on the line. Kohász got the lead, but after 3-2 several mistakes were committed, two lost balls and two missed chances were punished by the visitors with 4 goals. György László needed to call a timeout in the 14th minute (3-6). The game continued but still we were struggling to get closer the opponent. Ferenczy and Szalai scored, but the opponent had the answers (6-9). They could go three times to get away by four goals, but they did not succeed and after Kohász came up with a stronger defense and won the last five minutes by 3 goals, which resulted a one goal lead at halftime (11-10).
The second part begun better for Kohász as well, but MKC remained close, strikes from Szalai, Szekerczése and Grosch were precise, but on the other side there was always somebody who managed to score (18-17). While in the first half Mosonmagyaróvár had the chance to get away by 3-4 goals, this time Kohász had this opportunity, but then along came an error or a missed chance. In the 49th minute the goal of Kazai Anita we managed to get away by three, but the opponent remained tough and still seven minutes before the final whistle it was hard to predict the outcome of the match (22-20). During the last few minutes both teams had several mistakes in attack, only Szalai Babett could find the net, but of course the home supporters did not mind that, as this meant that we won the game. Besides getting away by four points from the opponent, we stepped forward to the 8th place on the league table.
György László: - A very struggling match, it was all about defending, it was visible that both teams put the stress on that. We prepared to meet the opponents open style defense, and even though we were not flawless, we got the job done and we gained an important win.
