„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
We'd needed just a little more
On a well-fought game we suffered a one goal defeat from our rival.
The second round of the league was ahead of us against Érd, against whom the women handball of Dunaújváros most probably has the worst all-time record ever. It is always a close contest between the teams but somehow they always manage to get the upper hand.
There was a little ceremony before the match, as several players were greeted with a small present. Beside U19 European champion, Schatzl Natalie from the opponent team. Jovovity Jovana for also becoming U19 champions with the Serbian national team on the second tier championship. Luca Szekerczés, who came second on the top goalscorer list last season, Németh Kata and Koronczai Petra, who are now U17 European champions, also Braun Csenge and Husti Hanna for their achievement in beach handball. We greeted one of our supporter, Kovács István, who supports the handball of Dunaújváros for a long time now.
The defenses and goalkeepers started well the game, both Csapó and Janurik started with a nice save, and luckily DKKA gained the lead (3-2). The teams shifted up the pace of game and they hit the net in both sides (5-5). Thanks to the nice defending our team could get away from érd (8-5). Szalai, Triscsuk and Sirián was efficient in attack and the won penalties were scored by Szekerczés. In the 20th minute 12-6 stayed on the scoreboard. Along came a timeout from the opponents, and it was very well timed, as it resulted a 5 minute long goalless period and thanks to a 5-0 run, they came back to the game. Szekerczés finally managed to score, and Kohász could keep a single goal lead for halftime (13-12).
The second half started well for the home team, thanks to Szalai, Szekerczés and Ferenczy they got away once again (16-13), but a due to a bad period Érd managed to equalize in the 41st minute and a few minutes later they got the lead as well (18-19). The last ten minutes seemed to be very exciting. Érd could gain the lead, but their goals were immediately followed by a DKKA goal. It was unpredictable who will get the upper hand. Mihály Petra was suspended in the worst part of the game and during this, Schatzl Natalie hit the home net two times. Szalai Babett, who has shown one of her best in this game brought ours closer, but Érd did not give time for another counter attack and defeated our team by a single goal (25-26).
