It is essential to stay strong mentally as well

2020. Apr. 29.
  • Facebook

New player of our team sees helping young people as an important task and believes that we need to be strong not only physically but also in our minds in order to succeed.

As we recently reported, we’ve strengthened our player base for the 2020/2021 season with seven players, and in our weekly updated series, we try to introduce them to our supporters. We started the line of portraits with young handballer, Boglárka Sziráki, but now we interviewed a player who is already has much experience in the Hungarian first league, Bianka Barján. Ideas and concept of our management were sympathetic for her and she believes that in DKKA she can do a lot in the new season.

"I started my NB I career in Vác, I spent nine years here in a row, I owe a lot to this club, then I played for a year in Békéscsaba, then I joined the team of the newly promoted Szeged. From there I signed for Érd for two years, which was also a turning point in my career. After this I returned to Vác again for two years, and later once again played for to Békéscsaba, so it was a nice cycle, which I am breaking now, as I am starting the next season in Dunaújváros. And I am very happy about that, because due to the current situation a new world of handball is being currently built. What the professional staff outlined here as the main concept, I found it very attractive. There will be a lot of experienced players on our team, extended by young players who will also be there to help us, so I feel we can achieve big this season, which is why I selected the offer of Dunaújváros. Of course it is also convenient for me that the city is close to my home, and it is also close to Budapest, where I will be able to continue other professional activities" - said the new left back of our team.

From whom we also learned that she will try to help her teammates and younger players not only on the court but also outside of it.

"Now I'm in an age where I count as a player with much routine, but I really like helping young people. Because when I was one, it felt very good to have a word or two of encouragement, a piece of advice about what to do and how to do it. Already in this short season, but even earlier during my career I tried to help the younger ones in Vác with whom I usually getting along very well. I want to contribute to the success of the team with my routine, as well as with mental aspects that I learned during my sports coaching studies, because it is essential to stay strong mentally as well. It's a grateful role, I'm extremely happy for it, and although I'm not just counted on as a player, right now still handball is the priority for me. I am active in my sport coaching career for 2-3 years now, it was a big turning point in my life thanks to it I gained a lot of self-knowledge. We specifically aim to helping young athletes, I've made a special point of doing it, and why I was motivated to choose this professional area is because in my youth it would have been very good for me if there was someone who could help me when I was desperate. I am glad that the club in Dunaújváros is open for this. I think Hungarian sport is starting to go this way, our mentality, our mental fitness and its strength are becoming very important in sports. "

Her new team will have several familiar handballers with whom she has played before, and Bianka is confident that together they will be able to achieve similar successes as before.

"There are players with whom I have played a lot together, such as Kinga Klivinyi and Boglárka Sziráki. With Kinga even at two clubs, in Vác and in Érd we were teammates. So I am hopeful that we keep up our nice partnership on the court. My aim is to help the team with my routine, I want to be productive, assist my teammates, and I want to be part of a fighting team forged well together, which can get high on the table. I commit myself to do my best to reach these goals."

Barján Bianka will help the team not only on the court, but also outside of it.

The excellent right-back of course, is missing handball very much, but even in the current situation, her everyday life is full with routines. She keeps herself busy, she is studying, and of course she is working hard to keep herself in shape for the return.

"My everyday life is now full of individual workouts, which I put together for myself, it always includes running, a long-term endurance run, and tabata, so I train almost every day. In addition, I usually cook and I am also a proud owner of two boxer puppies, we play, walk and run with them a lot, so they fill our everyday lives. Although I like to read and watch series, beside them now sports coaching also plays a big role in my life. Within coaching, there is a new perspective, the so-called mindfulness approach, I am trying to master this too. I train myself, write a blog, so I never get bored. It is important for me to organize my time and daily routine so that my time is used well. However, no days can pass without training, I am missing handball really much, to play with a ball to be on the court, so I hope that this situation will end as soon as possible and that we can start the new season smoothly. "
