„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Triumph of heart and will; four out of four!!
Our team turned the table and despite being down with four, at the end they gained a 28-26 against county rival, Alba FKC.
With two league and one cup wins behind us we hosted Alba FKC in the ninth round of NB I. Attila Vágó's team struggled with several difficulties before the game, as in addition to Nick Viktória and Gréta Horváth, who have been missing for a long time, Jana Šustková could not make it due to a thigh injury and Anita Bulath was only able to step in for penalty shots. Although Dominika Mrmolja was back after her illness, the professional management could not count on her as a starter.
After a good home start Fehérvár turned the game due to a two minute suspension (2-4). The hosts had a 3-0 run, but then something hapened, as too many mistakes were committed in attack, and the visitors penalized these with quick goals (6-9). After a timeout call from Attila Vágó our team improved in attack Borgyos and Farkas scored more times, but the opponent could finish their attacks with a goal, so we could not come closer (10-13). Even a player down FKC increased their lead, so a big turn would have been necessary for the second half, as we were down by four after 30 minutes (13-17).
It was primarily the defense in which ours had to move forward but unfortunately we could be annoyed by another missed penalty (15-19) right in the start of the second half. With the beautiful goals of Szalai and Polics, we managed to halve the disadvantage for the 41st minute. The call of the opponent coach broke our momentum, but fortunately only temporarily, because our defense became very tough. Bartulović brought nice saves, while Polics, Borgyos, Szalai also scored important goals. When Kazai hit the net, Kohász was already closer to success (23-22). The guests were unable to get past our goalkeeper, while on the other side Szalai and Farkas were irresistible, so in the 53rd minute the Kohász led to 26-22. FKC managed to break their goalless period after ten minutes, then came closer but after Kukucska's second goal they didn't have a chance to equalize. Our handball players finally got the very important two championship points with a 28-26 victory, which put them in fifth place on the table.
