„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
We were freakin' close
We suffered a 22-21 defeat in the Hungarian league against Debrecen in a huge fight, based on what we saw, our team would have deserved at least a point.
Adult ensemble of our academy hosted Debrecen from six o'clock tonight. DVSC was third on the league table, so the odds were in their favour, despite this, ours was confident that they would be able to surprise the opponent.
Tthe guests of course wanted to avoid this, and although the first goal of the match was scored by Kazai, in the next five minutes the DVSC hit the home goal three times..In the 9th minute home coach Attila Vágó called a timeout to ask the girls to remain calm (2-5). Szalai és Polics brought our team closer, but thanks to the saves of our former goalie, Kyra Csapó, Loki - as they call the visitors - managed to get away from ours once again (7-11). The teams could march into the dressing rooms with a 12-9 away lead.
DVSC started the second half better, but thanks to the brilliant saves of Bartulovć and the effective defending of our team the guests were left without a goal for six minutes, while Farkas, Kazai, Nick and Horváth also scored. At 14-14 Zoltán Szilágyi needed to call a timeout After that, Anna Kovács and Babett Szalai took the leading roles in the two teams, but when Krupják-Molnár scored, for the first time DKKA had the upper hand (18-17). DVSC equalized quickly, then after another goalless period, Tóvizi also hit the net.
Thi final stage of the game seemed to be very exciting. Loki took the lead twice, but our handball players were equalized through Szalai and Kazai respectively (21-21). The last attack could be led by Debrecen, and since the referees closed their eyes in a highly suspicious case, they were able to play the ball to the wind, from which Míra Vámos scored just three seconds before the end of the match, squeezing out the victory for Debrecen (21-22). Despite the defeat, our handball players cannot be blamed, even with key players missing they still fought enormously, and with a little luck, they could have scored even points against a quality opponent.
It was no coincidence that our executive director was quite upset after the final whistle:
- In a fierce match, I'm terribly sorry that my team lost the clash of the red-whites in such an unfair way, Nothing left for the girls but the moral victory. Congratulations to the team of Debrecen once again, and we wish them every success in achieving their goals - said Csaba Vertig after the game:
