4th place finish in the cup

Our team did not succeed in winning the third place in the Hungarian Cup, after losing a 27-20 defeat to Siófok in the bronze match in Debrecen.
The adult team of our academy played the bronze medal contest of the final 4 in the Hungarian Cup in Debrecen this afternoon. The opponent of our team was Siófok, which was defeated by Ferencváros only by a penalty shoutout in the semi-finals. Our goal was to close the 2021/2022 season with victory and cup bronze by offering a much more accurate game than we played yesterday.
Despite gaining a two goal advantage early on the game, Viktória Nick's suspenison and Gréta Horváth's injury stopped our enthusiasm which was penalized by the opponent. At 6-5 we still had the upper hand, but in th 16th minute Siófok could take the lead. (8-6). It was a visible setback for us, but even after the timeout of Attila Vágó, due to a wrong substitution we were a player down once again. Thanks to Fakras ang Krupják-Molnár we equalized, but two more suspensions from Polics and Weisheitel seemed just too much to keep up with the opponent, so SKC was leading by two at the half.
To be better in attack could have helped ours to turn the game, but we started with two missed chances in offense, while got two goals in defense (15-11). Long goalless period was broken by Farkas but since in front of the opponent's goal we could not improve. another timeout call was necessary. Kazai showed a nice volley shoot and Szalai's strike brought ours closer, but while Borgyos had to remain on the sideline for 2 minutes, Böhme herself hit our net 3 times (20-14).
Our last timeout could once again break the pace of Siófok, despite Weisheitel, Krupják-Molnár and Szalai found the net the opponent kept their 4-5 goal advantage. The team of Uros Bregar could bring some refreshment for the final 10 minutes when it was necessary. so they could even increase their lead. With their victory of 27-20 they gained the 3rd place in the Hungarian Cup.
