„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
A nice win at the end
Even with a ten-minute goalless period, the adult team of our academy gota confident victory against Békéscsaba in the season opener.
The adult team of our academy started the Hungarian league at home with a clash against Békéscsaba hoping for a successful beginning of the 2022/2023 season.
It started just as the home fans had dreamed, with the goals of Arany and Szalai our team quickly gained a two-goal lead, and although the guests responded quickly, after another accurate shot by Szalai, the scoreboard showed a 3-1 DKKA lead. The continuation also brought a clear superiority of Dunaújváros, in the next six minutes ours brought another 3-1 attack, so the guests' coach, Bálint Papp had to call a time-out in the 10th minute (6-2). This did not help the guests much, after Bartulovic's goal into empty net, Kohász already led by 5 and since our team maintained its five-six-goal lead until the 20th minute, we did not think that there could even be any troubles for the rest of the half (11-6 ). Yet, it happened, as towards the end of the half, thegame changed enormously, there were a lot of mistakes on the home side, we didn't come out well from the suspensions either, so Békéscsaba gradually worked away their disadvantage. They managed to equalize with their 12 hit, and then took the lead with Mayer's goal in the last second.
Our team had to improve in all elements of the game in the second act in order not to get an unpleasant surprise in the opening round, and although the guests scored the first goal of the half, after the goals of Nick and Szalai a new match begun (15-15). At that point, Békéscsaba regained the advantage once more, but thanks to the improved attack and defense, DKKA quickly turned the game around, and in the 41st minute, it was again two hits ahead of its rival (20-18).
Békéscsaba still could not do anything with the home defense, Oguntoye and Bartulovic were able to keep the goal clean several times, and since Farkas scored twice, Fodor scored once, we were able to watch the game a bit more calmly at the end of the half (23-18). Termány broke Békéscsaba's almost quarter-hour-long goalless period, but after more home scores, the visitors' manager had invited his pupils to the sideline once again, because the fate of the points seemed to be decided by the 51st minute (26-19).
Of course, the opponent did not give it up, but our handball players kept up their advantage despite the fact that Békéscsa scored three (!) goals in the final minute. It was in vain, as Kohász eventually won the match 30-26, keeping very important two points at home.
