Wéninger Alexa to be loaned out
Our net guard, who was performing well in the season, is spending the 2022/23 season at the newly promoted league rival.
The team of the National Handball Academy (NEKA) recently contacted our team with the intention of taking our goalkeeper on loan for next season, as due to an injury the team led by Beáta Bohus will not be able to count on their first goalkeeper, Kata Németh, who has been part of our Academy for four seasons.
The association that successfully got promoted to the Hungarian First League (NB I) thus needed to seek reinforcement. Our academy was pleased to receive the enquiry of NEKA, and after consulting with the player, no hindrances remained for our talented “seven-meter killer” to join the Balatonboglár team for the next season.
Alexa performed excellently during the season, she was able to give new strength to those on the court and with her saves she helped our team with gaining important points. It’s no secret, it’s also a great opportunity for her, as although she is quite young too, but her routine and NB I experience can be worth a lot as a member of a guard that basically builds on young players.
"I was happy with the request because I will have the opportunity to play as much as possible, which in case of DKKA would not have been guaranteed given the fact that there are two great and experienced goalkeepers in next year's squad. I am happy and sad about my choice at the same time, as I really fell in love with the team, but I also felt that I should not say no to this opportunity. I wish the Girls and the whole team of DKKA good luck for next season and I will have the chance to return to Dunaújváros in the future" - said Alexa Wéninger about the challenge ahead her.
Of course, we will not be without excellent goalkeepers either, as it has recently become public that Viktória Oguntoye, who won the EHF Cup with DKKA, will return to Dunaújváros, and the Croatian goalkeeper Gabrijela Bartulović, who is also playing well during the entire season will remain at our club too,
