„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Hope lasted for 30 minutes
Despite leading throughout most of the first half, after switching sides, our team could not deliver neither in attack nor in defending against Mosonmagyaróvár.
Our academy's adult team continued the league with a home match against MKC, fifth in the table. Although the visitors were the favourites, our team naturally hoped to surprise its opponent.
And with the determination to do so, because although Mosonmagyaróvár responded to Szalai's early goal with two, our handball players tried to finish their attacks with a high tempo, and with goals from Weisheitel, Szalai and Poczetnyik they led 5-3 in the 7th minute. The visitors managed to level the score (6-6) after a two-minute double man advantage, but as the team gained full strength, they tried to take the initiative again. Poczetnyik and Arany scored but the visitors equalized again (9-9). Although getting the lead again, the opponent scored two goals in two of their attacks, and as our players committed several mistakes, Tamás Rapatyi had to call a time-out in the 23rd minute at 12-14. After the short break, Farkas scored a double to equalize the score, but during Agócs' sending off, Mosonmagyaróvár got away by two again and kept the lead with a last second goal until the end of the first half (16-18).
The offensive play was good, but our team had to improve their defense to have a chance to score. In comparison, the guests started the second half with a 3-0 run, and when they were leading 21-16 in the 35th minute, DKKA's manager had to invite his players to the sideline again. Although the next goal was scored by us, the rest of the game did not go so well as the visitors, who were much more accurate in front of goal, increased their lead and in the 43rd minute Tamás Rapatyi used his last opportunity to instruct his pupils (19-26). Unfortunately, by this time the fate of the points was already decided, and even though our team tried to come back into the game, the guests played confidently and even increased their lead. In the 52nd minute we could grieve over the 23-33 score. Unfortunately, the final period didn't go well either, Mosonmagyaróvár led by 13 goals, and although they managed to reduce the difference in the last minutes, the guests finally took the two points from Dunaújváros with a 40-30 win.
