„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
This victory is ours!
Fighting hard from the first minute to the last, playing as a real team, our academy's adult team won 30-29 at home against Siófok.
Our academy's adult team continued the league at the home of Siófok KC, the team possessing the same amount of points as ours, and although the hosts were the favourites, our handball players dressed up in the hope of a good match and a point.
The meeting started at a very fast pace, with the sides not bothering much with defence in the first minutes, and after just 180 seconds the scoreboard showed a 3-2 home lead. The home team then managed to get away with two goals for the first time, and although Nick and Arany tried to keep pace with Siófok, Farkas' suspension gave the Balaton side an 8-5 lead. Unfortunately, we then got a bit stuck in attack, and after another goal by the home team, Tamás Rapatyi had to call a time-out in the 20th minute (10-6).
Weisheitel's two minute suspension didn't help either, but Poczetnyik and Farkas managed to halve the deficit, so in the 25th minute it was time for the home side to call a timeout (12-10). The short break didn't break the momentum of our team either, because Farkas brought our team back to the lead and after Nick's fourth goal the scoreboard showed equal again in the 29th minute (12-12). However, the home team still had an answer to this, Mavsar took the lead back for SKC for the half-time (13-12).
After the encouraging game and great fight in the first half, we had every reason to hope that the continuation would be similar. We could not really complain about the start, because our team could equalize three times, and although Siófok was again up by two at 17-15, after another flashes of Poczetnyik and Farkas we could be happy to be even again (17-17). A great battle started to emerge, in which the hosts took the lead, but our handball players always equalized. Our efforts paid off, as in the 47th minute they finally took the lead with Poczetnyik's strike (22-23).
In fact, the next goal was scored by the Rapatyi-team, but before we could start to celebrate, Siófok scored two more, and everything started all over again in the 53rd minute (24-24). Szalai's goal helped to take the lead back, but after another DKKA suspension, the hosts took their chance and their advantage, and in the 56th minute the hosts got away by two goals. However, our handball players continued to fight with great heart, Poczetnyik and Farkas equalized again, so the last minute and a half of the meeting promised to be very exciting (29-29).
First Bartulovic made a fine save, and then Arany's shot missed the target. However, with 16 seconds to go, the home side gave the ball away and Poczetnyik raced down the pitch to score a great goal, and as the Siofok side got a final free-throw opportunity after the final horn, which hit Kazai's head, Milosavljevic was sent off with a red card. After a shor medical break our team could perform a triumph dance as they overtook their current rivals in the league table with their 30-29 victory.
