„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Important points from Békéscsaba
In a great battle, thanks to the better and more accurate play in the last quarter of an hour, our team won by three goals in Békéscsaba.
Our academy's adult team continued their league campaign tonight at 6 pm as guests of Békéscsaba, who have two points in their five meetings so far. Tamás Rapatyi's side suffered a nasty slap in the face at NEKA's last game, so the aim was to correct their mistakes and take the points from their opponents with a much better game than Balatonboglár.
It was clear from the first minutes that both sides were trying to play with a lot of pace and speed, and as the defending on either side could not really keep up, the first ten minutes were a real goalfest. Our team quickly took a 4-2 lead, and although the hosts turned the game around with a 3-0 run, we had an answer to that, too, as Szalai, Agócs and Paróczy took the lead again (7-8). The next two goals were scored by our handball players, but they could not rest as the home team quickly came back in a battle that contained increasingly more and more mistakes. The rest of the half was very unsteady, in which we again managed to get away by three, but at 12-12 Tamás Rapatyi had to call time-out to settle the score. At the end of the half, the home team and our team were neck in neck, but there was no answer to Petra Horváth's hit, so Kohász went into the break with a minimal lead (15-16).
The game did not change much after the half-time switch, with systematically both teams having better and not so much good periods, The coaches obviously did not like this either, in the 38th minute the home team and five minutes later our team called for a time-out again (22-22). Tamás Rapatyi's advice was obviously more "effective", as our handball players won the next eight minutes 5-1, so with less than ten minutes to go, they managed to get away from their rivals with four goals for the first time (23-27). Immediately Békéscsaba used their last opportunity for a short break, and then we suffered a double player disadvantage , but even two player down we managed to find the net of the oppontent, so the final drive started with 24-28 on the scoreboard. In the closing minutes, our opponents halved the deficit while we were 6 on the court due to another suspension but Viktoria Nick's score meant that our handball players took the very important points from Békéscsaba with a three-goal victory, 29-26.
