Defeat in Debrecen
Our academy's adult team managed to make things difficult for the hosts Debrecen for a mere quarter of an hour in this afternoon's match.
The adult team of the Dunaújváros Kohász Kézilabda Akadémia continued their NB I campaign with a match against the unbeaten DVSC in Debrecen on Wednesday afternoon at 5 pm. Although the home team were the favourites, they were confident that they could play a good game against the hosts, who are playing in the Champions League.
Although Loki scored the first two goals of the game, it could not be said that our handball players did not start the game well, trying to keep up with their opponents (3-2).The next few minutes were better for the home team, but after 6-3 our team regrouped and with nice goals by Anna Horváth, Sallai and Paróczy, they again reduced the deficit to one. But then something broke in our team, the next three goals were scored by the home team, and despite Tamás Rapatyi's timeout request, the scoreboard showed a 12-6 home lead in the 23rd minute. Five minutes before the break, Csáki broke the scoring silence, but Loki responded with another four goals, and the score was 16-7.
Debrecen didn't want to slow down after the turnaround either, they opened with another 3-0 run, and although our team responded with a three, the fate of the points was already decided (19-10). The rest of the game was more of a fight than a high quality one, there were quite a lot of mistakes on both sides, In the last quarter of the match, the sides took turns scoring, but the final quarter turned out better for the hosts, who increased their lead thanks to the saves of our former goalkeeper Gabrijela Bartulovic, and finally kept the championship points at home with a 31-19 win.
