One of the toughest home matches of the year awaited our adult team at the academy, as they hosted one of the world's best teams, Győri Audi ETO KC, in the sports hall.
The guests were considered overwhelming favorites for the encounter, but our team made an effort to engage in the battle. In response to the first three goals by Győr, Trawczynska scored twice. However, the Győr team stepped on the gas, taking a 6-2 lead and then scoring five consecutive goals after Szalai Babett's hit, leaving our handball players unable to respond (3-11).
At this point, our team managed to regroup, with Sallai, Paróczy, and Gajdos making excellent plays to reduce the deficit (7-13). In the final minutes of the first half, both teams struggled to find the net, and although Trawczynska's successful penalty shot brought us closer, the guests shone in the closing moments, heading into halftime with a 16-9 advantage.
After the break, ETO opened with another 4-1 streak, but despite the substantial gap, our handball players did not give up the fight. In the following minutes, they managed to outsmart the otherwise tight Győr defense multiple times, and by the 40th minute, the gap stabilized at eight to nine goals (14-22). However, the guests' defense tightened even more in the third part of the match. Until the 50th minute, they allowed our team only one goal, and in the next ten, they remained equally unyielding. With twelve successful attacks against the home defense, they ultimately left Dunaújváros with a confident 34-16 victory.
There is no time to be discouraged, as next Wednesday from 5 p.m., an important task awaits our team in the Hungarian Cup, where the DVSC Schaeffler team will be the opponent for reaching the Final4.
