In Székesfehérvár, our academy's senior team faced off against local rivals Alba FKC in another round of the Hungarian league tonight at six o'clock. The clash of the ten-point teams promised a serious battle, and ours started slightly better, with Kohász repeatedly taking the lead, although it's true that the hosts managed to equalize continuously until 4-4. At this point, our team managed to organize its defense, which, with goals from Trawczynska, Nick, and Borgyos, pulled ahead 8-5 from the opponent, prompting the home coaching staff to call a timeout in the 12th minute.
The brief pause somewhat broke our momentum, and in the next six minutes, fans saw four goals from the home team and one from Dunaújváros, and when the Székesfehérvár team equalized (9-9), it was our turn to call a timeout. After the next break, we managed to pull ahead by two goals again, but after 9-11, Alba scored three goals in a row, and once they seized the lead, they did not relinquish it. Despite our increasing ability to breach their defense, our defense didn’t hold up, so the local rivals could head into halftime with a lead (17-15).
In the continuation, we primarily needed to stabilize our defense, but out of the first five goals, four were scored by the home team, and when we conceded another goal in the 36th minute, we had to call another timeout (22-16). It shows our fighting spirit that we didn’t give up the fight even when trailing by seven goals, and after Szalai Babett's "hat-trick", the home coaching staff also called for a timeout (23-19).
The academy players visibly gained momentum, but during Gajdos' exclusion, Alba again pulled ahead by four goals (25-21). However, Trawczynska joined the scoring in time, and by the 51st minute, we were attacking for the equalizer (27-26). Although we missed the opportunity then, Arany and Szalai finally managed to equalize in the 54th minute (28-28).
However, Alba didn’t want to let go of the victory. In the final six minutes, they took the lead three times, and although we responded twice, our last attack didn’t end with a goal. Thus, the Székesfehérvár team celebrated a 31-30 victory.
