„ACÉL A SZÍV!”
Only one goal down
A nice performance from the team, they had the lead most of the time throughout the game, but in the last minutes the Danish team was more precise at finishing.
Our team played in the third round in the EHF Cup, based on the schedule of play DKKA needed to travel to Copenhagen for the first leg. The management wanted to get a decent result abroad, which would allow us to get qualified for the group stage in the second leg already at home. Unfortunately some of the players had some injuries; Camila Micijevic, Katrin Klujber and Babett Szalai were not fully fit, still all of them got some minutes on the court.
The first four minutes brought 2-2 goals for both sides, defending seemed to work quite well. Although the opponent took the lead two times, Kohász always could get one in immediately and in the 13th minute was up by one goal (4-5). Anna Kovács had a brilliant performance during the whole game. The fact that from our 5 goals she scored 4 showed her exceptional skills. Then the tides turned again and in the 17th minute László György needed to take a timeout (7-6). The ideas and tactics of the coach seemed to help to the girls as they managed to get the lead back once again and they kept the one goal advantage until the end of the first half (11-12).
Kohász was the more enthusiastic team after the break scored two in the first three minutes. (11-14). Of course the hosts did not give it up, the first suspension from our team helped them to come closer. László György called the girls to the bench for the second time in the 40th minute as before that the Koebenhavn got some easy goals. After another suspension 17-17 stayed on the scoreboard. A good final 10 minutes could have been decisive for both teams, after a close 50 minutes, they needed to stay focused and not to let the opponent getting away easily. Kohász managed to score while being one player down (18-20), but after a well timed timeout from the hosts once again they equalized. To the goal of Anna Kovács they replied with 2 another in the final minutes and won the game by one single goal. DKKA fought well against its opponent strengthened by Danish, Swedish and Dutch international players. Based on the local reports especially Annak Kovács and Katarina Tomasevic played brilliantly today. And although all the defeats are painful, this match is one that the girls and the management can be proud of. It also means that we got what we came for; Kohász will have a good chance to get qualified for the group stage in the EHF Cup at our home match in Dunaújváros.
